OUT OF BETHLEHEM CAME THE BREAD OF LIFE

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and our continuing reflection upon the question; What Should The Church Look Like? This study has been persistent in my thoughts for several months right along with questions about the feminization of the Church. I have already published my thoughts, Scripture thoughts, on the feminization of the Church. That study was published on the 5th of January 2025 under the title “The Seed of Satan is Flourishing in the Church”. As I talked to the Lord about this question of what the Church should look like, His response was, like The Tabernacle in the wilderness. This is a multipart study, so let’s dive in.
Picking up from last Thursday continuing from east to west in the Tabernacle Courtyard, we come to the Tent of Meeting which is a partitioned structure. The Holy Place being in the front where the priests of old ministered daily. In the back behind a veil was the Most Holy Place which the High Priest entered once a year. Since the Cross, victory in Hell, leading the captives in the Bosom of Abraham forth, and the Resurrection the veil is torn top to bottom. Now we can go boldly to the Throne of God, the Throne of Grace. Equally or more importantly He came out to us, that is the Holy Spirit.
Let’s examine the most easterly room of the two-room Tent of Meeting called the Holy Place first. We will see what this represents physically and theologically to the Church today. Upon entering the Holy Place, we encounter three pieces of furniture. To the right, which is the north side, is the table of Shew Bread with the Shew Bread. The Tabernacle was at the center of where all the tribes of Israel resided. Although the priests or Levites lived around the Tabernacle, because they took care of the Tabernacle, it seems they lived primarily on the north side.

46 And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him.
Today one might say that these are the Five-Fold Ministers. However, looking at the original pattern this would be all of the supportive ministries of a Church including janitors and parking lot attendants etc. Certain Levites were priests in that day and were the ones primarily responsible for teaching the Word, bringing the Bread of Life to the people. Jesus is the Bread of Life.
John 6:47-48 (KJV)
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem which means house of bread. The table is made from shittim wood which is a thorny tree and presents the scourging and crown of thorns placed upon our Redeemers back and head. The same wood is used throughout including the Alter of Burnt Offerings. The table is overlaid with pure gold representing purity. His sacrifice brought redemption of the body and life for the spirit of man. By His strips we were healed both spirit and body.
TAKE HOME:
- The Holy Place gave us the type and shadow, or prophetic picture of the Bread of life to come, the knowledge that the prayers of the saints are a sweet fragrance to the Father, and that the Servant Christ Jesus would return the Holy Spirit and Fire to mankind as in the beginning.
- Jesus is the Bread that gives everlasting life.
- Scourging and a crown of thorns was the price Jesus paid to give purity to mankind, those who will receive the broken body and shed blood of the Messiah.
