WHO IS AS BLIND AS MY PEOPLE?

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this illuminating and stimulating Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. As we prepare to dive into this wonderful Book, please take a moment and share as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is a stock photo of a newsroom. This is to represent one of the seven pillars of society, the pillar of media and all information technologies. I suspect you are very much aware that whoever controls the various means of communicating controls the message as well. Let us pray for righteousness to invade this sphere of influence. God is not going to “sovereignly” invade this sphere, although He has the Power, He does not have the authority. He will raise up men and women through which to work, perhaps you are called to this arena. As you know I have been encouraging us all to pray for two of the seven pillars namely the government and the Church but now I am expanding by the will of God for us to pray for all seven pillars. Our desire is for men and women of God, not the heathen, and certainly not the anti-God people, to control these seven gates (mountains, pillars, spheres of influence).
Proverbs 9:1 (KJV)
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
Whether we refer to these as pillars, gates, mountains, or spheres of influence they are talking about the same thing. Jesus destroyed all of the enemies’ legal right to occupy these gates and it is our job to enforce that victory and occupy the high ground so to speak. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud. If you want faith, if you want to please the Lord, and you want to get stuff done for the Kingdom read out loud.
Isaiah 42:17-21 (TLB)
17 But those who trust in idols and call them gods will be greatly disappointed; they will be turned away.
18 Oh, how blind and deaf you are toward God! Why won’t you listen? Why won’t you see?
19 Who in all the world is as blind as my own people, who are designed to be my messengers of truth? Who is so blind as my “dedicated one,” the “servant of the Lord”?
20 You see and understand what is right but won’t heed nor do it; you hear, but you won’t listen.
21 The Lord has magnified his law and made it truly glorious. Through it he had planned to show the world that he is righteous.
As we proceed forward into verse eighteen and following you can hear the sadness, disappointment in our Lords voice. He, the Lord, seems to find it baffling that people won’t turn to Him. In many ways the text seems to reflect frustration. If the Lord told you or me, we were blind and deaf towards Him, how would we respond? Would we fall to our knees in true repentance and ask for help to see and hear? He is asking them and us, why won’t you listen, why won’t you see? We know that is true for people discard the Truth all the time and are perishing. Just look at your own life and all those around you who are perishing (destruction in our lives).
Hosea 4:6 (KJV)
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Destroying is the way of the thief, Satan and his minions. This destroying does not come simply due to a lack of knowledge but because we have rejected knowledge (Truth). When we reject the Truth, we open the door wide open to the enemy and perishing is ours. How often have we heard the Truth but because it did not fit our world view or what our preacher says, rejected it out of hand? Are we, all of us, proving what we believe? Are we good Bereans?
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Do you know that what you believe, and what you hear, is so? How do we know a thing is so? By the Word of God!
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
