A COMMANDMENT FROM OF OLD

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and this ongoing study of 2nd John. What a book so rich with Truth from Heaven through this Apostle of love. Without further ado let’s plunge into our golden text.
2 John 1:5-7 (KJV)
5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
I want to take just a moment to differentiate between the love of an Old Testament saint and a New Testament saint. With the fall of man, the spirit of man was dead to God and incapable of expressing supernaturally the nine fruits of the spirit. So, what does the word love in the following verse mean?
Leviticus 19:18 (KJV)
18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
This word transliterated from Hebrew ʾāhab to English as love means to haveaffection for, love, like, or be a friend according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. When these people, Old Testament saints, were taught the law and followed the law they were walking in the same love we walk in or are supposed to walk in today. Our spirit man is alive and connected to God the Holy Spirit, we have the written Word, and yet we fail in our love walk all to often, what is our excuse. Short answer, we don’t have a legitimate excuse, many reasons perhaps but nothing that will stand up in the court of Heaven. Do we really love the three persons of God and put the Word of God in first place in all things? Perhaps we are too emotion driven and lean too often on our own reasonings and understandings. This brings us to verse seven of our golden text.
2 John 1:7 (KJV)
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
The Apostle is once again going to talk about the emergence of antichrist. The Apostle John is the only writer in all of the Bible to use the term “antichrist” (1 John 2:18, 2:22, and 4:3). The term “antichrist” is really self-explanatory. It means to be against or the opposite of the Messiah, the Anointing, or the Anointed One. As we examine our text, we see that deceivers deny that “Jesus Christ is come in the flesh”. The key to this is the word “Christ”. Many do not deny that Jesus was a real person upon the earth but deny that He is the Christ. The word “Christ” means Anointed and/or Messiah. For example, neither the Jews or Muslims deny Jesus as an historical figure but neither recognize Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God who takes away the sin of the world.
TAKE AWAY:
