Greetings dear saints of God, followers and partners with this Ministry. Today I am continuing our study of The Kingdom of God. This was the major thrust of Jesus’ earthly Ministry and therefore of ours. Really, the whole Bible if you are looking for it is instructing us in Kingdom of God living. Can you imagine there is a better life now or later than the life the Kingdom of God makes available? Yes, I am a prosperity teacher, prosperity in every arena of life, for that is what the Bible teaches. That is not to say that we are not presented with opportunities to fail, and in so doing suffer, but that is our choice, not God’s. Now that I have everyone riled up let’s turn to our anchor/golden text.
Matthew 6:33 (AMP)
33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
So, what is to be first in our lives? His Kingdom and His righteousness.
Luke 8:10 (KJV)
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
An interesting thing about this verse is that the phrase “might not” translated twice is not the same Greek word. In the first use of the phrase, it is the Greek word transliterated to English as blepō according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary meaning to not give the parable attention. In the second case it is the Greek word transliterated to English as syniēmi according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary meaning they did not consider it to put it together as something important. We see that there are those who don’t give the Word of God attention and therefore do not fully grasp its importance for them.
Jesus refers to these parables or allegories He tells to illustrate a Spiritual point as “mysteries of the Kingdom of God”. He also says it is for us to know these mysteries. Anything one does not know is a mystery until they give their attention to it. That is the case as well with the Kingdom of God. These, His disciples, are interested and are giving it their attention and then asking Him to give them a fuller explanation. Let’s take a moment and look at the parable Jesus shared with the people that day concerning the Kingdom of God.
Luke 8:5-9 (KJV)
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
Two things I want to point out about this before we finish today. Did you notice in verse eight that it mentions only the hundredfold return on the seed sown? In the other gospels it mentions a return of 30-, 60-, and 100-fold returns and that is associated with the condition of the ground (our heart). Could it be that the return is always 100-fold, being directly proportional to the amount sowed which depends upon our heart. The second point is that verse eight is directly connected to verse ten. In effect Jesus is saying pay attention, hear to understand and do. Finally, let’s factor in the following verse to our understanding.
Luke 8:15 (KJV)
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
In His elaboration to the disciples and us Jesus gives further insight concerning those who reap. They are good ground, which is defined by Jesus as an honest heart, a heart with good treasure, a hearing heart that guards the Word, one exercising patience and then brings forth fruit.
TAKE HOME:
- We see that there are those who don’t give the Word of God attention and therefore do not fully grasp its importance for them.
- Did you notice in verse eight that it mentions only the hundredfold return on the seed sown? Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
