Greetings dear and precious saints of God, friends and partners of this Ministry. The Lord is so good. Welcome back to our study of the precious Book of love, 1st John. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from 1st John picking up with the second chapter.
1 John 2:1-6 (KJV)
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
The Apostle John, the Apostle of love, starts off addressing those to whom he is writing as “My little children”. He is writing to us all, then and now. It is unknown to us now, but I suspect there was a very specific group of Christians being addressed at the time. Perhaps it was a young Church with many, if not all, immature Christians. How many of us have walked a road like the Apostle John? Seen and done the things this man walked in. This man was at the Cross.
John 19:25-27 (KJV)
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
Think of it, John is the only one of Jesus’ male disciples at the Cross all the others at the Cross were women. It seems that the Apostle John had true love (agapē/agapaō), and faith with the women there by reaching into the next dispensation (like Abraham and the Syrophoenician woman). All of the men scattered and hide. I would like to think I would have been there with John and the women. Lord help me.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
