Greetings Precious saints of God, brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this instructive study of 1st John. The Lord is so good.
James 1:13-17 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Let us get this down inside of us, God is good, the problems in our finances, our bodies, and so on is not authored by God, nor the devil, we ourselves are the author by the thoughts of our mind and the words of our mouth. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
1 John 3:1-3 (KJV)
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
I always find this first verse such a thrill to read. I am a son of God and so are you if you are born again! The word translated from the Greek to English as love is “agapē” according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
John 1:12-13 (KJV)
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (bold added)
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Just as surely as Jesus was the first begotten Son of God so are we dear ones. Scripture says that just as He is (today) so are we today in this world.
1 John 4:15-19 (KJV)
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. (bold added)
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
