THE KINGDOM OF GOD – PART TWENTY-SEVEN
Video link: https://youtu.be/zAK6mGQzghc
Greetings to all, faithful partners, faithful followers, and first-time visitors. Welcome back to this study of the Kingdom of God. The main thing that Jesus taught and demonstrated was the Kingdom of God. Since it was important to Him, we must make it important to us. Scripture like God is timeless so this was not just important then but is important now and will always be important. Without further ado let’s go to our anchor Scripture.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Once again, I will ask both of us, do we understand this command? Are we doing this? Are we willing to change to do this command? Is what we are thinking, saying, and doing and the impact on the Kingdom of God in the forefront of our thoughts? Do we evaluate our thoughts, words, and actions with regard to His righteousness?
Matthew 13:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Yesterday we examined the “mysteries” or secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven/God as put forth by Jesus in a parable. We were told what caused people to be unfruitful. We discovered that we must avoid being careless with the Word of God, being wayside ground. We found that we must study, believe, and develop roots that will withstand the forces that come against us. We must avoid letting the things of this life become first place, which is idolatry. Then we found that good ground was those people who avoided these three conditions. In the end it boils down to what we have decided to fill our hearts (minds) with. Look at what Jesus had to say in another place in another way.
Luke 6:45-48 (KJV)
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Jesus goes on to describe the collapse of the house without the deep foundation on a rock which is the Word, Christ Jesus. These are the first three groups. Hey look, this does not just drop on any of us, we must study, prove, believe, and do the Word of God casting away all else.
TAKE HOME:
- We must ask ourselves what kind of treasure is deposited in our hearts. Is it good treasure being the Word of God and His way of doing or is it the treasure of the kingdom of darkness.
- Are we regularly policing our thoughts, speech to ourself and others, our conversations, and our media content?
- Our thoughts, what is in our hearts, coupled with the words we speak in faith (what we believe good or bad) have created the life we now live.
Lord willing, I will pick up our study of The Kingdom of God right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
