THE KINGDOM OF GOD – PART TWENTY-SIX
Video link: https://youtu.be/e20k8tTjfwc
Greetings to all, faithful partners, faithful followers, and first-time visitors. Welcome back to this study of the Kingdom of God. The main thing that Jesus taught and demonstrated was the Kingdom of God. Since it was important to Him, we must make it important to us. Scripture like God is timeless so this was not just important then but is important now and will always be important. Without further ado let’s go to our anchor Scripture.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Once again, I will ask both of us, do we understand this command? Are we doing this? Are we willing to change to do this command? Is what we are thinking, saying, and doing and the impact on the Kingdom of God in the forefront of our thoughts? Do we evaluate our thoughts, words, and actions with regard to His righteousness? Now, let’s turn our attention to more of Jesus’ instruction concerning the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. You will quickly recognize that this involves the parable of the sower.
Matthew 13:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Jesus has just spoken to a great multitude what has come to be known as the parable of the sower. The “sower” is the one speaking the Word of God and the Seed sown is the Word of God. Recall there are four groups of people but only one group brought forth fruit for the Kingdom of God. Let’s step back a little and see what has just happened. Afterall Jesus has just revealed a mystery or secret of the Kingdom of Heaven/God.
Matthew 13:3-9 (KJV)
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
The first group of people heard the Word but did not honor the Word and Satan came and dislodged those Words immediately. They were dislodged with thoughts of doubt, contrary arguments, and other thoughts seemingly more important. The second group had developed no depth of their ground, no roots, so when pressure came on the Word they folded. The third group was consumed with life, this natural life. This is Matthew 6:33 upside down. This brings us to the fourth group which honored the Word, studied the Word and developed roots, and clung to the Word come what may. As I bring todays study to an end, let me ask, do you have ears to hear, do I have ears to hear?
TAKE HOME:
- Let’s ask ourselves, do we listen to understand, believe, and make a part of our lives, do we have ears to hear?
- Failing to honor the Word of God, giving it a place leaves our lives just like those outside of the Kingdom of God.
- Failing to study and develop roots, develop good ground, will cause us to let loose of the Word of God and also be fruitless regarding the Kingdom of God. A life like those without just with a religious flare.
- Putting the things of this natural life ahead of our assignment, our place in the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness (way of doing) will also result in no fruit. This person looks like a powerful saint until you look for the fruit.
- Good ground results from honoring Word, studying the Word, believing and doing the Word, and clinging to the Word no matter what.
Lord willing, I will pick up our study of The Kingdom of God right here tomorrow, Sunday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
