EVERY DISCIPLE HAS OLD AND NEW TREASURE

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and the ongoing study of the Kingdom of God and repentance. This was the major theme of Jesus’ Ministry in the earth and before that John the Baptist. Of course, the whole Bible speaks to the Laws of the Kingdom of God. In a nutshell, follow Gods’ commands and thrive in the earth with eternal life to follow, do as you please and perish. Let’s move to our anchor Scripture and then into the next teaching from Jesus in the Book of Matthew concerning the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Once again, I ask, do we fully understand this? Do we take this as a command, a doable way to live? The extent to which we are putting the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first determines our effectiveness and efficiency in the Kingdom. That does not mean opposition will not come, it certainly will and if it doesn’t, we may be actually playing on the devils team. It means that when opposition, persecution, comes we are ready and equipped to handle it at the onset. The war was done at Calvary, but we will have opposition in occupying the territory the children of Satan occupy illegally. I will now move ahead.
Matthew 13:52 (KJV)
52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
If you look at the verse in other translations, you will find the word “scribe” translated as “teacher and interpreter” in the Amplified and simply as “teacher of the law” in the NIV. Let’s take a look at the Passion Translation of this verse.
Matthew 13:52 (PassionNTPsa)
52 He responded, “Every scholar of the Scriptures, who is instructed in the ways of heaven’s kingdom realm, is like a wealthy home owner with his house filled with treasures both new and old. And he knows how and when to bring them out to show others.”
It seems to me that Jesus is talking about a more mature Christian who has accumulated knowledge of the Kingdom of God over time. This person has Kingdom of God treasure, the Word of God revelation or light, that is old and some that is new in their life. This person then uses discernment or discretion as to when to show or share these treasures both the old and the new with others. Today we might say don’t be a bull in a china closet be gentle and patient.
2 Timothy 2:24-26 (KJV)
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
TAKE HOME:
- Each of us over time as we study the Word of God and walk in His righteousness collect treasure, both old and new.
- Be GENTLE and PATIENT in sharing this with others being led by the Holy Spirit. Use discernment and wisdom.
- Did you notice that the Passion Translation says this person is as a “wealthy homeowner”. Remember the Blessing of the Lord makes one rich and adds no sorrow. Rich in this realm and in that to come as we put the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
