HAVE WE RECEIVED THE KINGDOM OF GOD LIKE A LITTLE CHILD?

Welcome back to this ongoing study of the Kingdom of God. This was a main focus of Jesus’ teaching and doing and thus should be ours as well. Jesus was the sample son, the One who showed the Church to be born on Resurrection Day how to operate. We are sons in our order to build the family name, the name of Jesus, the Kingdom of God. Jesus commanded that we were to do as He did and even greater things (John 14:12). Why? He has gone to the Father, and we are here to do the work of God, the work of the Kingdom of God. As we start our study for today let’s again review the anchor for this whole teaching on the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
This is a command from our Lord, and we are fully equipped to do this command. Our reward and our rank on entering Heaven depends on how we handle this command. No, dear one, we don’t all get the same reward, and we are not all the same rank. We will now move into the next teaching from our Lord concerning the Kingdom of God.
Mark 10:13-15 (NKJV)
13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
We must read this passage carefully and thoughtfully because it is a very serious passage. Did you read verse fifteen carefully and thoughtfully? In every way, compared to God we are “little children” indeed. Little children who have not been abused trust their fathers (and mothers) without exception. Unfortunately, too many have been abused by their natural parents including fathers. All were abused when they were in the world for Satan is a cruel father for sure, he comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. However, when we come into the Kingdom of God, we must throw ourselves wholeheartedly on our Heavenly Father. We must trust Him without exception even when we don’t understand which will be most of the time in the beginning. We have to do it by faith.
Did you notice the Scripture says to receive the Kingdom of God not God alone? It is like our anchor text telling us to seek the Kingdom of God not telling us to seek God alone. Let us think again about what a kingdom is? A kingdom is the kings domain and is governed, administered by laws. We have a King and His name is Jesus and in turn we gained a new Father, our Heavenly Father and a Helper was thrown into the package. This kingdom is comprised of all that name Him as king and what they occupy spiritually and physically is a part of that kingdom or domain. The laws of the Kingdom of God are spelled out in the Holy Bible what I sometimes refer to as the Policy and Procedure Manual of Heaven and earth.
We must ask ourselves, have I received the Kingdom of God with the full trust a little child has? Perhaps the real answer to that question explains the lack of the promises of God manifesting in our lives. Jesus tells us point blank “whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it”. Dear ones, let’s humble ourselves in repentance, believing and doing without hesitation even when we don’t understand.
TAKE HOME:
- Jesus commanded that we were to do as He did and even greater things (John 14:12). Why? He has gone to the Father, and we are here to do the work of God, the work of the Kingdom of God.
- Compared to God we are “little children” indeed in every way. Little children who have not been abused trust their fathers (and mothers) without exception and we must trust God in the same way. Unfortunately, too many have been abused by their natural parents including fathers. All were abused when they were in the world for Satan is a cruel father for sure, he comes only to steal, kill, and destroy.
- Did you notice the Scripture says to receive the Kingdom of God not God alone? This is like our anchor text telling us to seek the Kingdom of God not telling us to seek God alone.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
