IT IS PAST TIME TO AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

Today I am launching into a study of divine love, Godly love, love that only the three persons of God and the children are capable of expressing. This study will follow the basic outline of my book titled “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. This will be longer than the book since I fully expect the Lord to give me and you additional insights, light. Think of it a little like the Amplified Bible compared to King James. I have chosen the image above for this study. It seems to be well past time for the body of Christ to awake, arise, and walk in the triumph Christ paid for at Calvary. We must walk in love just as our Heavenly Father, our King, and our Teacher walk in and are love. Love Himself, all three persons of God are love. We have the Word, and the thoughts of God plus an infallible guide for this life and beyond. Jesus went to the Cross to redeem those who accept rescue from darkness. Jesus was the remedy for sin, the curse, and death. That dear ones is love, Godly love.
A significant impetus for the book and this teaching is that I hear a lot of discussion about love from the pulpit and the pew yet almost no one defines this love. What does this love look like? If we apply the worlds definition and look, we will be in much error. This love we are discussing is divine Godly love possible only for God and His children. Ignorance of this love leads to much error. For example, the following verse is commonly misapplied for two major reasons. One is the quoting of half a verse which in some cases can lead to serious error. The other is not knowing the definition of Godly love, agapē/ agapaō.
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Biblical love, God level love (agapē/ agapaō), is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and our God breathed spirit. As defined by Jesus this love is primarily obedience to the Word of God. Secondly, walking in love (agapē/ agapaō) is a selfless lifestyle. Thirdly, walking in the God kind of love is a walk of Covenant, Blood Covenant. Back to Romans 8:28. What if ones definition of love is that of the world, a lesser love which is transactional touchy feely? It is not uncommon to hear the first portion of this verse as follows “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God”. Would it matter what definition of love we use? Of course it would.
The Greek word used in this verse translated to love is agapē. What if one is not obeying Scripture and or living a selfless lifestyle? Can we assume that all things will work together for good for that person? No, we can’t. When things are not working together for our good the first place to look to our love (agapē/ agapaō) walk. Concerning the Romans 8:28 verse the second thing to ask is, am I walking in His purpose for my life?
We are children of God, made in His image and likeness; therefore, we have His nature. A part of our nature of the nature of God are called the fruits of the spirit in Scripture. The very first fruit of the Spirit, our spirit, mentioned in Scripture is love (agapē/ agapaō). As an aside before delving into this passage, note that all nine fruit of the spirit are feminine in gender. When we sow the Word of God our spirit man responds producing the called for fruit.
Galatians 5:22-25 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
It seems to me over the years that there has been some issue about the source of fruit in these verses. You can see that the S in Spirit is capitalized suggesting we are talking about fruit that the Holy Spirit produces. That cannot be the case as the following discussion will clearly illustrate. It is our spirit that is to produce these fruit and that spirit originated with God (Genesis 2:7). We are the ones in Genesis 1:28 who are told to be fruitful. This fruitfulness however is facilitated by the Holy Spirit as we crucify the carnal man and follow after the things of the Spirit.
Remember, Jesus said He was the vine, and we were the branches and without Him we could do nothing (John 15:5). What I want to point out is that the fruit are on the branch and are the product of the vine and the branch working together. The vine (or tree) is the Word and the flow of the Holy Spirit (Anointing). The branch without the vine is dead and the vine without branches is unproductive. This is another proof that God does everything in the earth through people. He is not off doing stuff, and we go find out where and get in on it. The fruit that is produced by the uniting of the vine and the branch in love (obedience, selflessness, Blood Covenant) is useful to the husbandman (John 15:1) our Heavenly Father. In order for fruit in the natural and spiritual to be useful it must be ripe (mature) and be available for use or the picking.
TAKE HOME:
- It is well past time for the body of Christ to awake, arise, and walk in the triumph Christ bought and paid for at Calvary. Love Himself gave us the Word, His thoughts, an infallible guide for this life and beyond.
- Love (agapē/ agapaō) is primarily obedience to the Word of God. Secondly it is a selfless lifestyle. Thirdly, walking in the God kind of love is a walk of Covenant, Blood Covenant.
- We are commanded to produce fruit, Godly fruit, the first, the foremost fruit is love (agapē/ agapaō).
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
