OUR GODLY LOVE IS NOT EMOTION BASED

Today we will continue our study of divine love, Godly love, love that only the three persons of God and the children are capable of expressing. This study will follow the basic outline of my book titled “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. This will be longer than the book since I fully expect the Holy Spirit to give me and you additional insights, revelation light. Think of it a little like the Amplified Bible compared to the King James Bible. It is well past time for the body of Christ to awake, arise, and walk in the triumph Christ bought and paid for at Calvary.
We are commanded to occupy until He comes (Luke 19:13). Many are still fighting the devils. Dear one, the war is over, it was won at Calvary and what followed. We resist the temptations of the flesh and devils. The devils flee in terror as we occupy all the devils have stolen. The devils shut the gates, but the gates of Hell cannot withstand us, we burst right through the gates (Matthew 16:18) taking all that Jesus purchased at Calvary which is everything. We have legal right to Canaan Land; it is the spoils of war. How are we doing with occupying our assignments? Love gave us His Words, His thoughts, as an infallible guide for this life and beyond. He went to the Cross shedding His Own Blood redeeming those who accept rescue from darkness. Jesus was the remedy for sin, the curse, and death. That dear ones is love, Godly love.
Once again let me share with you the definition of agapē (Greek Strong’s Number: 26) or agapaō (Greek Strong’s Number: 25) which the Lord gave me in my study of this topic some years ago.
“Love is a deep and constant interest in a person. It is a function of the will. It is right (righteous – Biblical) and reflects or is born of the blood covenant. This love is not dependent on the recipient in any way but is solely dependent on the giver.”
This Godly love is not emotion driven, emotion derived, or emotion based in any way. This love is an act of our will based on obedience to Scripture, a selfless lifestyle, and abiding in our Blood Covenant with our Lord. So, let us examine this love, the preceding God given definition. The focus of our love toward the person in question is deep and constant, not superficial and intermittent. Our focus or attention is not a result of something the person focused on does or does not do but a function of our will. It is a focus and attention that reflects the will of God and maintains the righteous standing of all parties. In a word this love is selfless, absent any hint of selfishness. This love may produce emotion, but emotion does not produce this love. This love is an expression, consistent with, our Blood Covenant with the Father in Christ Jesus. However, this love (agape) is expressed, there is no expectation of repayment or reciprocation. This is not like friendship, which is based on mutual exchanges, transactional in nature.
I will now start to move forward into the next chapter of the book “Be Love” titled “OTHER WORDS TRANSLATED LOVE”. There are many Greek words translated as the English word “love” and I will start to share those with you in the next teaching. Remember, we are focused on the kind of love that only God and His children are capable of expressing. I believe that one of the wiles, deceptions, of the enemy is to get us to treat something as common. This may have been part of what happened with Lucifer in his relationship with God. Remember the saying, “familiarity breeds contempt”. So, it is with the word love (agapē/agapaō) which should be used only in reference to God and people. Let’s quit saying we love God and ice cream in the same sentence. We love (agapē/ agapaō) God and people, but we enjoy ice cream.
