CAN YOU DEFINE DIVINE GODLY LOVE?

Today I am continuing our study of divine love, Godly love, love that only the three persons of God and the children are capable of expressing. This study will follow the basic outline of my book titled “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. This will be longer than the book since I fully expect the Holy Spirit to give me and you additional insights, revelation light. Think of it a little like the Amplified Bible compared to the King James Bible. It is well past time for the body of Christ to awake, arise, and walk in the triumph Christ bought and paid for at Calvary. We are commanded to occupy until He comes (Luke 19:13). How are we doing with that? Love gave us His Words, His thoughts, as an infallible guide for this life and beyond. He went to the Cross shedding His Own Blood redeeming those who accept rescue from darkness. Jesus was the remedy for sin, the curse, and death. That dear ones is love, Godly love.
I will now resume our study picking up again with the fruit of our spirit, the first of which is love (agapē/agapaō).
Galatians 5:22-25 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
As outlined in the preceding Bible passage we produce nine fruits of our spirit just as Jesus did from His spirit. Since we are dealing with love in this Booklet, we will examine the practical aspect of the fruit of love. The foundation of our selfless obedience to the Word of God is the Blood Covenant. When we die to self, do the Word, and do things God’s way, He will manifest. The manifestation of this love is not a transient emotional feel-good moment but a practical tangible investment in a person. We do not exercise this love in response, or to get a desired response. Nor do we have a negative response to a lack of response from the one loved. Our focus is on the one being loved and our focus is not on the behavior of the one being loved.
Now when I say obedience to the Word of God, I am primarily talking of the written Word of God on which we have light. Light is revealed Word; it is beyond information. However, obedience to the Word includes nudges from the Holy Spirit, that “knowing” or “still small voice” in the check-out line at the store telling us to pay for the person in front of us. The devil is not going to ask you to help someone out. So, our paying for the person in front of us in the check-out line is the fruit of love or the manifestation of love. And you could argue the fruits of goodness and kindness were plucked at the same time as love. The Law of Seed Time and Harvest is in motion.
As you continue reading this passage in Galatians you notice that crucified word again. To crucify the flesh is to put the wants of the flesh on a back burner or deny the desires of the natural man all together as we do the will of God. Our flesh, the carnal man, is selfish, that is not us, we are love, we are selfless. We are not to lust after the flesh which is a focus somewhere else rather than on the will and way of God. To live and walk in the Spirit simply means to focus on the leadership of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. By our will we must be selfless, observe the Blood Covenant, and do the Word of God. As we do, we are love, we express love, and we express or become an expression of Him.
Before ending for today, I will now share with you the definition of agapē (Greek Strong’s Number: 26) or agapaō (Greek Strong’s Number: 25) which the Lord gave me in my study of this topic some years ago.
“Love is a deep and constant interest in a person. It is a function of the will. It is right (righteous – Biblical) and reflects or is born of the blood covenant. This love is not dependent on the recipient in any way but is solely dependent on the giver.”
TAKE HOME:
- Divine love, Godly love, is love that only the three persons of God and the children are capable of expressing.

However, obedience to the Word includes nudges from the Holy Spirit, that “knowing” or “still small voice” in the check-out line at the store telling us to pay for the person in front of us.

Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
