Greetings dear saints of God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus. I will be continuing to teach from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love” this week. The main impetus for this book was all the talk about love in Church and among God’s people. In my experience it is rare to hear any definition of what “love” is being discussed. Many times, when people are saying they “love” the Lord or that the Lord loves them they get this angelic look on the face and a faraway look in the eyes. Nothing wrong with that but that is a low-level love (not love at all), and that is not what my book is about nor these teachings. The book and these teachings are about Divine love (agapē/agapaō), the love that God has for us and the love we have for Him, our neighbor, and ourselves.
As we wind the week down at least concerning this study I will launch into a new chapter from the book titled “Love and Faith”. We are told repeatedly in Scripture that everything is by grace through faith. As important as the Grace/Favor of God is, He does not act alone but in response to our intertwined faith and love. I am talking about faith in God and love of God, love for our neighbor, and abiding in Blood Covenant (agapē/agapaō). Walking by faith which is being fully persuaded of the Word of God in love is our part and the application of Grace is God’s part, or one could say His response.
Our love for God and people is an expression of our will from our spirit (a fruit of the spirit). Many times, we do it by faith. It is our soul and spirit walking in unity. There may be times when our emotions tell us, perhaps strongly, we don’t want to love our neighbor, but our will tells us to obey Scripture. Now, back to a very brief discussion of Grace. Grace, the favor of God, is a manifestation of the presence of God (Exodus 33:13-14) by way of the Holy Spirit of God. One minister defined the actions of Grace as a kindness given or granted by God. If you evaluate the word in Strong’s Concordance you will find elements for this interpretation.
One may say it is unmerited favor and of course it is, but that confuses cause and effect. The unmerited favor (effect) is due to a person, the Holy Spirit. We don’t experience the Grace, the Favor, of God just because we are a Christian and walk the earth. We, the children of God, trigger or cause the manifestations of Grace (Favor) by our obedience to Scripture (love), and the exercise of faith. It is impossible to please God without faith, so it is imperative that we have and exercise faith. We develop faith in the Word of God that we think upon, believe, speak without contradiction, and act upon without reservation. Faith that gets results is powered by love. Faith is being fully persuaded that what God said is the only possible result. The promise of God is not one of many options for us, it is the only option. You might also say that faith is a system, a reality upon which you have absolute confidence. Now, let’s look at Scripture.
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is our firm conviction of the reality of truth, and it is the firm foundation of the words or things we have spoken and expect to manifest imminently. This exercise of faith is evidence that the unseen thing expected exists and is on the way into this physical realm. Faith, being fully persuaded, is the firm foundation of our doing which brings the thing to manifestation. There is something called circular theory in science which calls for an unseen reality of the seen. After all natural people do this all the time, it is called imagination, which is how we got many of the things we use in this natural environment, we call them inventions. Just think what a supernatural man could bring into this realm with the mind of Christ, love, and faith. How important does the Bible tell us Hebrews 11:1 above is to our walk with God?
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We must believe that God is and that He will reward those who diligently seek Him. The Apostle John tells us that Jesus always pleased the Father (John 8:29). Evidently Jesus believed that the Father was and that if He was diligent (obedient to what He heard the Father say and what He saw the Father do) God the Father would manifest or reward Him. Let me say to you, as a child of the Father, the Most High God, you can do the same thing, Jesus said so.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
TAKE HOME:
- We are told repeatedly in Scripture that everything is by grace through faith. As important as the Grace/Favor of God is, He does not act alone but in response to our intertwined faith and love.
- Our love for God and people is an expression of our will from our spirit (a fruit of the spirit). Many times do it by faith. It is our soul and spirit walking in unity.
- We develop faith in the Word of God that we think upon, believe, speak without contradiction, and act upon without reservation. Faith that gets results is powered by love.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next week. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
