THE SEED SOWN AND HARVESTED

Today is part four of our new Bible Study series extracted from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Book II – God’s Road to Redemption”. We will be studying chapter six which is titled “Blood Line – Trail of Blood”. I am hoping to have a digitalized downloadable version of the book available soon (e-book). For those who like to read on their computers or other devices it will be inexpensive access to a rather lengthy book (464 pages). Now, to our study of the Blood.
I will now move forward from the sin in the garden toward the final solution – redemption at Calvary. First, let us again look at the following verse.
Leviticus 17:11 (KJV)
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. [2]
When you analyze this verse, first you find that the word life is the Hebrew word nepesh;[2] which is a word that encompasses the part that God breathed into man, when he became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). In other words, it is our soul (mind, will, emotions) and the spirit man. When man sinned, the spirit man died immediately, the soul (mind) was contaminated with the words/ways of the Serpent. Decay (entropy) and death had entered the earth, so the physical body began to deteriorate. Absent the tree of life with a contaminated thought life and speech the curse is rampant.
The second word that is very interesting in Leviticus 17:11 is the word flesh. The first meaning is as expected, the body; but when you look at its root, you find the Hebrew word bāśar [2] which means message. So, we could read the first part of the verse as follows: for the life of the spirit and soul is in the message of blood. Without the shedding of the blood of Christ, there is no message! Now later in the verse, we find the word souls and soul, which is the same word as life (nepesh[2]) at the beginning of the verse. So, the return of life (connected to God) to the spirit and soul is absolutely dependent on the blood. The blood of animals could only provide a temporary covering and did not restore life to the spirit and soul. It did allow for limited fellowship between man and ʾElōhîm. But the blood of a sinless man was to be shed, His name is Jesus, and that blood restored life! When that came to pass once again, God could be intimate with His man and live with and in men (and women).
Now let us turn our attention to when the blood covenant comes more fully into view. One might think it was Genesis 3:21, when God instructed them concerning animal sacrifice for a temporary covering until the “Seed” would come and be the final sacrifice forever for sin. Let’s examine the following verse.
Genesis 1:11 (KJV)
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. [2]
This verse is part of what happened on the third day of the renovation and creative acts of this present physical creation. Three is the number of divine perfection, [4] but also may represent the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. When the Seed is sown helped by the Eternal Spirit a harvest of righteousness, His righteousness, you and I would spring forth. Until tomorrow let us mediate the following verses.
Hebrews 9:13-14 (KJV)
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
TAKE HOME:
- The message of the Blood is eternal life.
- The Seed has been sown; we are the harvest of righteousness.
- The Blood of Jesus has set us apart for God’s use, purified us in the sight of the Father, exchanging our sin for His righteousness.
