STARS OF HEAVEN AND BLOOD COVENANT

Greetings precious and elect saints of God and welcome back to our ongoing study of the Blood. Now, let’s move forward.
ABRAM/ABRAHAM – PART FOUR
God has promised Abram in Genesis 12:1-3 that in him all families of the earth will be blessed, referring to the coming Messiah, the redeemer. Now they, together, are about to take the first step. Understand that God is a legal God; He will do nothing that is not right, that violates His established laws or character. Forget the religious traditions, sacred cows, that have told us that God can and will do whatever He wants when He wants. God never violates our freewill, ever. If He violated our freewill, wouldn’t He have made everyone be saved and filled with the Holy Spirit? We know with certainty that it is the will of God that all men be saved but they are not. Why? Each of us exercise freewill which is frequently not the will of God nor in our best interest.
Man had bowed his knee to Satan, making Satan his god and god of this world. In order for God to have entrance into the earth and individuals, He must find people who will seek after Him and obey Him; then He can teach them and bless them. God remained the owner of the earth, but now Satan was leading mankind in deception counter the will of God. Finally, God has found a man in Abram/Abraham with whom He can cut a Blood Covenant. This Covenant will in the fullness of time, result in the coming of Messiah. Fulness of time is an unfortunate term and reality. Did you get saved the first time you were convicted of the need for salvation? God has to get His ducks in a row so to speak which is not easy even for Him for we are a selfish and rebellious peoples.
As we enter chapter fifteen of Genesis, we find Abram lamenting to God that he has no heir; and God assures him he will have an heir, and it will be his very own child. God takes him outside the tent and directs his attention to the sky.
Genesis 15:5-6 (KJV)
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
The stars are the individual persons comprising the Church of Jesus Christ with Jesus being the Seed referred to in the fifth verse. In the sixth verse we find that Abram believes God, the Words of God, which is faith, and it was counted to him for righteousness. Agreement with God brings us into right standing and right doing with God, a first step. This is before any covenant is put in place. Abram is acting in faith, and it is counted to him as righteousness. It had to be counted to him for righteousness, for there was no covenant foundation, such as we have in Christ Jesus. We are righteous because of what Jesus has done and freely given all who make Him Lord. We are made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Whatever is not of faith is sin. So, if the covenant which God was to establish with Abram was not done in faith, it would be worthless. The whole fifteenth chapter is the covenant that God made with Abram, Jesus, even the Holy Spirit that day/night. The Covenant they are about to cut includes the Church and Israel. God says there is going to be a great Church, and there will forever be an Israel. The whole land promised by God and deeded by God to Israel has never been fully occupied by them. In like fashion, in spite of the Church having all dominion they have never fully exercised that authority. I believe that is all about to change. The Church must arise and is arising by faith without spot or wrinkle, united in the faith of Jesus Christ. Israel in the millennial time and beyond will have all the land promised her. For now, let us focus on the following passage.
Genesis 15:17-18 (KJV)
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Abram has divided (cut in half) the animals as he was instructed to spill their blood. God had no blood; so, this is surrogate blood, until He would shed His Blood as a man at Calvary. A “smoking furnace and a burning lamp”, “passed between those pieces.” The smoking furnace is the Holy Spirit of God. Where there is smoke, there is fire. Remember, in the wilderness, the Holy Spirit led them with a cloud by day and by fire at night. The burning lamp is Jesus. The Father was not just making covenant with Abram, but with Jesus and the Holy Spirit as well who would help Jesus accomplish all.
Immediately following this experience, Abram, at Sarai’s insistence, has a tryst with Hagar, Sarai’s maid, which produces Ishmael, when Abram is eighty-six years of age. This, of course, was a deception of Satan to get them to lean on the arm of the flesh and not on the promise of God. Ever done that? Remember, the devils come immediately to steal the Word of God if we do not hid it in our hearts.
TAKE HOME:
- God told Abraham that obedience would bring a blessing to all the earth. What about our obedience?
- Abram believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. The Seed has come and we are made righteous.
- A Blood Covenant was put in place between God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and Abraham. Soon it will be tested and the Seed is on the way.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
