SEEK THE REIGN OF GOD

Greetings dear ones and welcome back to this enlightening study of The Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Let’s get right to our anchor or starting text.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
These are our primary marching orders from the King of kings for us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. How do we see the activities of our lives. Is Church, Christian activity separate from or part and parcel with our total life spirit, soul, and body? Do we see all the things we think, speak, and do as part of our Kingdom assignment, being the will of our King, and doing it His way which includes His motives and attitudes. Let’s move forward to the next teaching on the Kingdom from the Master which is Luke’s view guided by the Holy Spirit of our anchor Scripture.
Luke 12:30-32 (KJV)
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Let’s take a look at these verses from Young’s Literal Translation, the English is a little choppy but reportedly very accurate.
Luke 12:29-32 (YLT)
29 `And ye–seek not what ye may eat, or what ye may drink, and be not in suspense,
30 for all these things do the nations of the world seek after, and your Father hath known that ye have need of these things;
31 but, seek ye the reign of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
32 `Fear not, little flock, because your Father did delight to give you the reign;
Jesus has been talking in the preceding verses about all the natural things of life and that the Father knows we need them. And He tells us, commands us, this is not to be first but our assignments in the Kingdom are to be first and doing them His way. I want to emphasize doing them (our Kingdom assignments) His way before moving forward. Religion has many traditions about how it is done, perhaps those should be examined from time to time in the light of Scripture.
Did you notice the use of the word “reign” in this translation? This is a good way to think about the Kingdom of God. A kingdom including the Kingdom of God has a King (leader) and laws that govern the kingdom. Our King is the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Scripture spell out the various spiritual laws of the Kingdom. Yes, there are laws, it is not a willy nilly arrangement. Natural kingdoms (countries, states, counties, cities/towns) reflect this although corrupted by sin. So, Jesus reigns, is the supreme authority, over us and we reign over creation. If you just fainted, get up and read again the thirty-second verse in any translation. Finally, the Father has given us the entire Kingdom nothing left out. It is all ours so why are we not bringing these promises into this natural realm?
TAKE HOME:
- Our primary marching orders from the King of kings is to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
- Our primary focus is not to be the things of this life but the things of the Kingdom of God.
- We are to reign in this earth under the King of kings doing it according to the laws, the ways, of the Kingdom.
