Welcome dear saints of God, and others, back to this ongoing study of the Kingdom of God. This is teaching 112 and we still have a good ways to go. This was the main thrust of our Lords Ministry on the earth and still is today through us. Are we about Kingdom business? Let’s delve into our anchor Scripture and pursue more about the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 6:31-34 (ESV)
31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
As you can see Jesus has been talking to His disciples about the necessities of this life telling them to refocus. Not to worry about or focus on what they will eat, and wear but rather focus on the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Remember, the Kingdom of God is within, and it is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. We are to be focused on our relationship and fellowship with our Heavenly Father. We are to then walk in Bible peace and joy as we do things His way. Bible peace is far more than a calm feeling and Bible joy is far more than a happy feeling. I have covered these many times.
Now, let’s go to the Cross. Jesus is on the Cross and there are two other men being crucified this day with Him. Let’s listen to part of that conversation.
Luke 23:39-43 (ESV)
39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!”
40 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”
42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
We see that one of these criminals is unrepentant, with a hardened mocking heart. The other understands who he is and who Jesus is. One accepts Jesus as Savior the other does not. The repentant criminal asks Jesus to remember him when He, Jesus, comes into His Kingdom. This man seems to understand that Jesus is about to receive a Kingdom. Moreover, he seems to understand it is not a geographical physical kingdom on the earth but for now a spiritual kingdom.
Jesus responds by telling the repentant criminal that they will be together that very day in Paradise. Is He speaking of the abode of God, the third heaven, or is He speaking of the Bosom of Abraham? From Scripture we know that Jesus is resurrected from the dead as a unified whole on the third day and takes His Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. One could make the argument that Jesus is talking about the Bosom of Abraham, and I would not argue with that. On the other hand, once we die, time is meaningless. The Scripture tells us that with God a thousand years is as a day. In any event we will meet this man one day.
TAKE HOME:
- It is imperative that we focus on righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost and doing things His way.
- Do you believe that we, you and I, can have days of Heaven on the earth as we seek first, focus upon, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness?
- When your eyes close in physical death where are you going. Will it be Paradise or Hell? Be sure today.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
