Thursday – December 14, 2023, Tevet 2, 5784
Last Friday the 7th of December was the 82nd Anniversary of that awful attack on Pearl Harbor catapulting us (America) into the Second World War. I skipped over this last Friday because it coincided with the start of the Jewish Celebration of the Feast of Dedication otherwise known as Chanukah. The Emperor of Japan (as was Hitler) was a fool, a heathen, a pawn and a spawn of Satan, attacking a Covenant nation on December 7, 1941. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared War with Japan before a joint-session of Congress on that same day. President Roosevelt declared that date would live in infamy, 2403 persons were killed and another 1178 wounded at Pearl Harbor. Shortly thereafter war was declared upon Germany as well. Where were God’s people? Do these great wars need to be? Before anyone start spouting off Matthew 24, careful observation will reveal that Jesus said we would have wars not that they are the will of God, or that they are ordained of God. Don’t get what happens by our own hand confused with the will of God. Let’s consider the following passages speaking of King Solomon concerning war or peace for a nation.
1 Kings 4:24-25 (KJV)
24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.
25 And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon. (Bold added)
Why?
1 Kings 3:12-14 (KJV)
12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
I wonder if putting God’s people (loving our neighbor) and the Kingdom of God and His way of doing things first still pleases God and would get the same result today? I hope no one is struggling with the answers, they are yes and yes. Know of a surety that the inverse is equally true.
Lord willing, I will pick up with our study of Isaiah next Monday. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
