SIN IS A LOVE KILLER

Greetings to all and welcome back to this wonderful study of Divine love (agapē/agapaō) taken from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. We are very near the end of these teachings from the book, and I trust you have ordered the book for your personal library and reference. Just because I have labeled this Divine love it does not exclude the Christian from expressing this love. In fact, Christians, the children of God in Christ Jesus, are the only ones capable of expressing this love. We can express this love just as we are capable of expressing the other fruits of the spirit. We are children of God and this love; the fruits are identical to His and originated with Him.
Thus far I have offered the definition of love, really the only relationship commitment to God and others that can rightly be called love (agapē/agapaō). Other relationships wrongly referred to as love are levels of fondness, emotional attachment, and are transactional in nature. Sometimes other fruit of the spirit are mistaken for this love, like patience, goodness, and kindness. By way of a reminder, this Divine love (agapē/agapaō) is obedience to Scripture (all of it), selfless motivations, and abiding in Blood Covenant. Now, we will plunge into the next chapter in the book.
The next chapter in the book is titled LOVE AND SIN. We have all heard the Scriptural phrase that love covers a multitude of sins. This idea of love covering a multitude of sin, as well as the phrase “speaking the truth in love” are very much misunderstood. In the preceding section I discussed the idea of speaking the Truth in love. The direct translation of that would be to speak the Word of God in selfless (no hidden agenda) Blood Covenant obedience to the Word of God. The Truth is primarily the Word of God, and we speak it or follow it to the letter as led of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name.
In regard to speaking the Truth in love I cannot over emphasize that we must be sensitive to the situation and follow the leadership of the Spirit. Perhaps we have all met persons with zeal but without wisdom. Love encourages and builds up. The result for the hearer is that they are able to grow up into the full stature of the Master. As we study Scripture, we have to decide right up front that we refuse to be offended. We (our flesh and mind) will not want to do some of the things we find in the Scripture or that the Holy Spirit speaks to us.
Ephesians 4:15 (KJV)
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
I believe that the speaking of the truth in love is directly connected to having fervent charity (love – agapē/agapaō) and the covering of a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8 (KJV)
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
This does not mean we ignore or sweep sin under the rug but neither do we broadcast it abroad. Neither do we allow the sin we see in another deter us from expressing this Divine love. Recall that the English word charity is the God type of love (agapē/agapaō) we are studying in this teaching. Now we understand that this Scripture is not just saying we are to overlook or conceal the sin of our brother or sister and thereby cover the sin. Just as we are told in the “love chapter” we are not to point out another person’s sin to other. As we understand the meaning of love which is the selfless Blood Covenant obedience to the Word of God, we can see we have a Blood Covenant obligation to our brother or sister in Christ to share the Word of God. As you see in the following verse the person has strayed from the Truth, which is the Word.
James 5:19-20 (KJV)
19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
As we share the Word then light comes, repentance can occur, and a multitude of sins are hidden never to be remembered by the Heavenly Father. In the meantime, we are not to publicize another’s sins. The following Scripture is very instructive in this regard.
2 Timothy 2:24-26 (KJV)
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
This is such a wonderful Gospel, such a wonderful God that we have to do with. Thank you, Jesus!
TAKE HOME:
