PREACH THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HEAL THE SICK

Greetings dear saints of God, followers and partners with this Ministry. Today I am continuing our study of The Kingdom of God. This was the major thrust of Jesus’ earthly Ministry and therefore of ours. Really, the whole Bible if you are looking for it is instructing us in Kingdom of God living. Can you imagine there is a better life now or later than the life the Kingdom of God makes available? Now let’s turn to our anchor/golden text.
Matthew 6:33 (AMP)
33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
So, what is to be first in our lives? Is it His Kingdom and His righteousness or something else and we work that in as we can. Do you suppose the following passage is for us or only for that day, that time, that event?
Luke 9:1-6 (KJV)
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
What a wonderful passage of Scripture and how exciting it was for them and now for us. If it was possible for them and it was their charge, so it is possible for us and it is our charge (command). Jesus gave them power and authority over all devils and disease. Are we any less equipped? The short answer is no; we also are equipped with the authority and power of Heaven. Did you really notice what He told them to preach and to do? He told them to preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick. It seems to me that somehow, we have lost track of this mandate, our mandate. He didn’t say to focus preaching about me, or the Father, or the Holy Spirit, He said preach the Kingdom of God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). For them to heal the sick they had to preach/teach that healing was a part of Kingdom of God benefits.
Remember, the Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Romans 14:17 (KJV)
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
I have been over this many times but it seems like the Holy Spirit wants me to again review this Scripture in some detail so we will do that next Saturday, the 30th of August. Have you thought about verses 3-5 of the Luke text? Do we see this pattern of Ministry today? It seems to me that the message Jesus is conveying is this. If the people to whom you go do not honor, you and the message of the Kingdom of God enough to take care of you move on. By honor Jesus clearly means to take care of you totally. Read it again.
TAKE HOME:
- So, what is to be first in our lives? Is it His Kingdom and His righteousness or something else and we work that in as we can.
- Jesus gave them power and authority over all devils and disease. Are we any less equipped? The short answer is no; we also are equipped with the authority and power of Heaven.
- If the people to whom you go do not honor, you and the message of the Kingdom of God enough to take care of you move on. By honor Jesus clearly means to take care of you totally.
