OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD CHANGES US INTO THE IMAGE OF JESUS – LOVE

Greetings to all and welcome back to this wonderful study of Divine love (agapē/agapaō) taken from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love”. Just because I have labeled this Divine love it does not exclude the Christian from expressing this love. We can express this love just as we are capable of expressing the other fruits of the spirit. We are children of God and this love; the fruits are identical to His and originated with Him. Thus far I have offered the definition of love, really the only relational commitment that can rightly be called love. Other relationships wrongly referred to as love are levels of fondness, emotional attachment, and are transactional in nature. Sometimes other fruit of the spirit are mistaken for this love, like patience, goodness, and kindness. By way of a reminder, this Divine love (agapē/agapaō) is obedience to Scripture (all of it), selfless motivations, and abiding in Blood Covenant.
We will now move into the next chapter of the book titled LOVE AND TRUTH. Several years ago, I distributed a Booklet titled; Knowledge of the Truth, to our partners in Ministry which gives a more in-depth teaching concerning the truth. I will now review the essential elements of Truth, I’m talking about Bible Truth, the only real Truth, to increase the clarity of this teaching. God opened my eyes to four facets of Truth. First understand there is only one source of absolute Truth and that is the Word of God. Many things are true, and many things are factual but there is only one source of the Truth.
First, truth is the word of God. Jesus said; “thy word is truth.” (John 17:17). Second, Jesus is the Truth, Jesus said; “I am the way, the truth,” (John 14:6). Third, Jesus called the Holy Spirit Truth; “the Spirit of truth,” who always points to Jesus (John 15:26 & 16:13-15). Fourth, love is Truth. Scripture proclaims that “thy law is the truth”, notice that “thy law” and “the truth” are both singular in Psalm 119:142. Then Jesus tells us that the number one law is love of God (Matthew 22:36-40). I think we can all see that all four points boil down to Jesus, the Word of God.
Truth is the Word of God, and it is unchanging from age to age and culture to culture. Truth is the timeless rock-solid foundation for all people to stand upon in unity. We can see that love and truth have different ways of revealing how we are to relate to God and man. The more I study the Bible the more I see the commonality of it all. It is all about THE WORD, JESUS!
We express love for God and man by the selfless expression of our will, adherence to the Blood Covenant, and obedience to the Word of God.
The more truth (Word) we have, the more we are changed, becoming an expression of Jesus, a representation of Jesus, and a revelation of Jesus. Remember, The Word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us. We are flesh and blood and are to represent the Word in this world. Remember the Word is God. In this flesh and blood body we are to become as the Master. This brief discussion of truth will now help us to properly interpret and do Scriptures concerned with the truth with a higher level of knowledge. I will now review a few examples to bring the practical aspects of this into focus.
John 4:23 (KJV)
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Worship is total submission to God, sound familiar. Sounds like love to me. To worship Him in spirit is to say we are led by and are fully submitted to the Holy Spirit (Who leads our spirit) and we speak only the Truth. At the risk of being redundant let’s review how God defines “the Truth”. The Truth is the Word of God (John 17:17). The Truth is Jesus (the Word) (John 14:6) and the name of Jesus (John 14:14, 15:16 & 16:24 [Amp]). The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and He leads us into all Truth. We, the sons of God, are to be led of the Holy Spirit.
We are not only to do as Jesus did, but we are to speak as Jesus spoke. To express love (agapē/agapaō) is to express and display the Truth. Love is an absolute obedience to the Word of God without thought for ourselves (we are selfless), and requires we be mindful of the Blood Covenant. As we are transformed by this process, this love, this Truth, we become an expression of Jesus, we are His representative, and we are a revelation of Jesus! The bottom line is this; we may be the only Jesus the world can see.
