Greetings dear and precious saints purchased by the incalculable Precious Blood of Jesus. Welcome back to our enlightening study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. I am puzzled by those of you who follow these teachings regularly yet don’t share?? If you’re just skating by and wondering who David Wood is don’t worry about it (don’t worry period). The picture today is chipmunk that lived outside our second Condo in Maine. I really enjoyed feeding him and he was quiet friendly which bothered Donna. Also, never forget to pray for Israel, it is a command of our God (Psalm 122:6-9) not a holy suggestion.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the wonderful Book of Isaiah and continue reading our loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 52:1-5 (NLT)
1 Wake up, wake up, O Zion! Clothe yourself with strength.
Put on your beautiful clothes, O holy city of Jerusalem, for unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer.
2 Rise from the dust, O Jerusalem. Sit in a place of honor.
Remove the chains of slavery from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
3 For this is what the LORD says: “When I sold you into exile,
I received no payment. Now I can redeem you without having to pay for you.”
4 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “Long ago my people chose to live in Egypt. Now they are oppressed by Assyria.
5 What is this?” asks the LORD. “Why are my people enslaved again? Those who rule them shout in exultation. My name is blasphemed all day long.
We have been dealing with the first verse of our text this week in the context of then and now. It seems we are tempted to think of this people who lived in an ancient time as being a lot different from us today. Sad and perhaps a fatal mistake concerning our spirituality. No, they didn’t have microwaves and cars but were their temptations really different than what we face or deal with today? According to Scripture these things have not changed since the Garden of Eden.
1 John 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
The word “love” in this passage is agapē/agapaō, a love that belongs only to God and to people. Are our thoughts the thoughts of the world, the words of the world, and the ways of the world? If so, we have another god, we have exchanged being awake for slumber, and the strength of God for the emptiness of the world and doing things in our own strength. Listen to the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul, a reality for us, a future reality for this ancient people. Now, what about the phrase “beautiful garments”? It seems that this word has to do with glory and honor. Reminds me of the following passage.
Psalm 8:4-6 (KJV)
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
The bottom line of this beautiful garment is the robe of righteousness and from it flows all the goodness of God. Without right standing and doing things God’s way there is no glory and honor in the Kingdom of God. Perhaps in the kingdom of darkness.
Lord willing, tomorrow I will pick up right here. Remember, the Lord is good, nothing but good, doesn’t make you sick or broke, and He cannot lie.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
