ENCOURAGE THOSE WHO ARE AFRAID

Colorado Governor’s Mansion
Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word to show us no only Himself us who we are in His family. Not everyone is in the family of God. There are two families in the earth, only two, those who declare and practice God as Lord and Savior and those who declare and practice the demonic as their lord and savior (provider, etc.). One may exclaim, “I don’t worship Satan!” Really? Examine where your time is spent, on what is your money spent, are you generous, and with whom do you hang out? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible expanding our reach with the good news. The news does not get any better than the Word of God. The featured picture is to remind us to pray for those in authority.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Now, let’s shift gears and read our primary text. Yes, out loud. Much of this is a repeat from last week, but I have found that with Scripture one cannot overdo the repeating.
Isaiah 35:1-4 (TLB)
1 Even the wilderness and desert will rejoice in those days; the desert will blossom with flowers.
2 Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the Lebanon mountains, as lovely as Mount Carmel’s pastures and Sharon’s meadows; for the Lord will display his glory there, the excellency of our God.
3 With this news bring cheer to all discouraged ones.
4 Encourage those who are afraid. Tell them, “Be strong, fear not, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.”
The text presented again today could be referring to the Millennial Reign of Christ but as we will see in subsequent verses, these are clearly Messianic. Focus for just a moment on verse four and the phrase “God is coming to destroy your enemies” then consider the following verses. Remember that Isaiah was seeing these things before the Cross and Resurrection, we look back at the Cross and Resurrection.
Colossians 2:15 (KJV)
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
1 John 3:8 (KJV)
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
And destroy He did, we don’t need to conquer but occupy what was regained by the Blood and Resurrection of Christ. Remember we are positioned far above all in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:21 (KJV)
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Back to verse four!
Isaiah 35:4 (TLB)
4 Encourage those who are afraid. Tell them, “Be strong, fear not, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” (Bold added)
We see the command many times in Scripture to be strong and not to fear, just as in this text. This is not a “give it a try” deal, it is a do it deal. Feeling fear’s presence and allowing him in (yes, fear is an evil spiritual force) are two different things and very important things to distinguish. The enemy wants you to believe you can’t help being afraid when the truth is that you can’t help feeling the presence of fear. This is useful for you then can resist, bind, and cast fear out of your presence with the name of Jesus and the Scripture (even this one). Consider the following Scripture and I will pick up right here tomorrow the Lord willing.
Joshua 1:8-9 (KJV)
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest,

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
