FRIDAY NUGGETS
FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – PEACE

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and those who are not yet saints. Become a saint today if you are not, simply repeat the following verse putting it in the first person and in your own hearing.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Simply say out loud: I declare Jesus as Lord of my life and I believe that God has raised Him from the dead, I receive salvation, I am saved. Welcome to the Light, the Kingdom of God.
As I move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. Now, let’s move to our primary text for the study of the fruits of the spirit. Today I will be moving on to the fruit of peace. Please continue to read out loud.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
As we move forward I want to remind us all that fruit, in this case the fruit of our spirit, is something that is useful to others, ourselves, and the Kingdom of God. Fruit is produced on the branches not the vine or the trunk of the tree however cannot survive without the trunk or the vine and cannot produce fruit without the vine or the trunk of the tree. The vine or trunk is anchored in the source and supplies the necessary nutrients to the branch. The source is the Father, the vine is Christ Jesus, the nutrients, the sap, is the Holy Spirit supply internal, the air and the light is the Holy Spirit external. Apart from any of this we can do absolutely zero.
John 15:5 (KJV)
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
All fruit that we produce is made perfect or brought to a perfect expression by the Word of God and the Anointing of God.
John 14:26-27 (KJV)
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Notice how Jesus links the Holy Spirit with the peace that He is leaving for us. What will the Holy Spirit bring to remembrance? The knowledge of peace, all six aspects, is in part the antidote to fear, a troubled mind. We are commanded to not have a troubled heart, to not have fear. We can do it; God is not unjust. Faith in God, in the exercise of the peace in our spirit man, and His peace of the Holy Spirit backing us up brings the perfect expression of peace which is more than a calm and settled feeling.
From our primary text the Greek word transliterated to English is eirēnē meaning (to join), prosperity, one, quietness, rest, and to be set at one again according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. We see here there are six parts to this word peace. Many people when they speak about peace are frequently talking about having a tranquil feeling but as you can see it is way more than that. It is a knowledge of the things mentioned above in the definition. It is more than a knowledge, it is a confidence, faith without doubt in the Truth of these things and the absolute reliability of the One who guarantees each and every aspect of peace.
Colossians 3:15 (AMP)
15 And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].
The word heart in the preceding text is the Greek word transliterated to English as kardia and is our mind, located in our soul. We apply our knowledge to every situation, not our emotions, and our faith in God, in His Word settles all questions and brings thanksgiving. Doesn’t this sound a lot like the John 14 passage above? As we exercise our peace at whatever level of maturity and knowledge we have attained, the Lord brings a perfect expression of peace by applying His peace to ours.
Next week we will look at the six aspects of peace, the fruit of peace.
