FROM THE PROPHETS CHAMBER
DO ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS – PART THREE

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to From the Prophets Chamber. This week I will be continuing to teach from Deuteronomy chapter twenty-eight. As you know I reference this chapter often when referring to the blessings of God and the curse which is of ourselves. Do not be confused, we trigger the blessing in obedience to God and we trigger the curse in obedience to Satan. God is not going about blessing some and cursing others due to some unfathomable plan that brings glory to Him and somehow works for our good. Before I go further, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture is of me teaching at Faith Chapel in Pennington, Texas recently. Please be sure you are reading out loud. Now, let’s take a look at the opening verses of our Bible text.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
What God is about to talk about “shall come to pass” not sometimes, perhaps, or you just never know. The Lord then lays out three requirements for blessings, to come upon us. We must listen with ears to hear, to understand, and implement. Next, it says we are “to observe” the voice of the Lord our God. This word, observe, is far more than to simply look at. Here is the definition of this word from the Hebrew word shāmar meaning to hedge about, guard, to protect, attend to, be circumspect, take heed, keep, mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save, wait (for), and to watch (-man) according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Thus far we have learned that we are to listen to understand and implement, and we are guard and protect this knowledge.
Finally, we are to do all His commands. Can you believe it? We are to actually do all of His commands! (Mild author sarcasm added) Do we really understand this? Do we understand that we are to do all of His commands. God is not unjust so we are well able especially in Christ Jesus with the help of the Holy Spirit. I suspect that many reading this believe they are doing all of His commands. Are all of the blessings enumerated down through verse thirteen present in our lives? If not, then we are not doing all that He commands in faith motivated of love (agapē). This is very simple little children. Let me point out an area that robs much of the Church of victory. That area is believing the lie in place of the Truth. For example, many believe that God is in control of all the events of our lives, even the rotten stuff. They believe that somehow it is bringing Him glory or perhaps He is teaching us something. Moreover, many believe God is working all the nasty stuff for our good. Give me a break! As huge as it is this is just one area where people are believing and acting upon the lies of Satan perpetrated from many pulpits.
It does not matter how sincere one may be, a lie will not yield the blessings of God. As we examine this section of Scripture watch carefully for how much of the curse is mixed in with the blessings. That is not to say we will not be presented with opportunities to turn aside to other words. Let me safe you a little time. So long as we do not turn aside to other words the curse has no place in our lives. Consider this passage concerning Isaac.
Genesis 26:1-3 (KJV)
1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
Do we think Isaac was tempted to go to Egypt, the world system in this time of famine? Of course, he was, but Isaac obeyed the Word of the Lord. Let’s see how much curse came into his life in obedience to God when other around him were experiencing nothing but the curse.
Genesis 26:12-14 (KJV)
12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
Isaac didn’t just grow in spiritual stature but was very rich in goods. The Lord is not done with this first verse yet, let’s look again, and pick up with it next week.
Deuteronomy 28:1 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Saturday.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
