ARMOR OF GOD – PART SIXTY-FOUR
BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS – PART FIVE
Greetings precious brothers and sister in Christ Jesus and welcome back to the Friday teachings on Gifts from God. Currently we are dealing with the “Armor of God” and the Breastplate of Righteousness. Before we move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible helping you and me obey the “Great Commission”. Thank you for sharing and I believe the Lord is pleased with your sharing. Over the preceding months I have built a firm foundation by the leadership of the Holy Spirit for the study and implementation of the seven elements of the ‘Whole Armor of God’. The bottom line is that we are to practice a life of holiness, of sanctification, setting ourselves apart for the Kingdom of God from the world. There is no rule (spiritual law) that says we have to sin! In fact we are commanded not to sin, therefore it is doable.
1 Corinthians 15:34 (KJV)
34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our Bible text from the Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 6:12-15 (KJV)
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Now, let’s talk a little more about the breastplate of righteousness. Now, remember we are not relying upon a piece of steel front and back on our chest but we are relying upon revelation knowledge of righteousness. We must believe not only that we are righteous in Christ Jesus, and also believe in The Righteous One. This knowledge guards our heart for the enemy comes frequently telling us we are not righteous (not in right standing, not doing right). When the attack comes, we must know without any doubt in our heart that we are righteous and stand against that assault in the name of Jesus. Being firm in our knowledge with full faith of our righteousness gives us an unassailable defense. Dear ones we have the same standing with the Father and with the Holy Spirit that Jesus had in the earth and has at this moment! The last point I want to make before we move to the next body of knowledge concerning the Whole Armor of God is that righteousness is not just a state of being but a person. Let’s carefully read the following familiar verse.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
As we examine this verse let’s start with the word ‘seek’. This means to look for and strive to find, this is a activity which is always now not once in a while. If you examine the Greek it has an element of worship or submitting to, in this case the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. I capitalized His and Righteousness for I believe the text is also talking about the Person of Jesus. Re-examine the following verse.
1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Jesus did not just give us His righteousness making us righteous but He was made righteousness. So, back to Matthew 6:33 we are to seek the Kingdom and its purposes but we are to seek His Righteousness which is Jesus the Christ. What is another name for Jesus? He is the Word. We are to seek after which is to emulate but to do the Word of God which is the path of righteousness. Fully persuaded unshakeable faith in Jesus, the name, the Word, and our right standing before the Father makes us invincible.
Lord willing, next Friday I will move on to our “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace”.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
