Greetings dear and precious friends and saints and welcome back to this teaching from 1st John. It seems that this year is passing at light speed, Thanksgiving is in the rearview mirror and Christmas looms straight ahead, then it is 2024. Have we used our time wisely, for the Kingdom? Are we following hard after the Lord making the best use of our time? Please take a moment and share this, and all other teachings, as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The Lord is so good, to give us His Word, to shine light on His abundant path for our lives. Before I move to our primary Bible text, let me remind you all of two things. One, is to be prayerful about becoming a partner, a regular financial donor to this Ministry, to support our Kingdom mission. If you are not sure about our Kingdom mission, go to our website, the link is below. Two, if you have not yet acquired my book “Be Love” do so today. This makes a wonderful Christmas present! Resist procrastination and pull the trigger right now, the link is below!

Now let’s turn our full attention to our primary Bible text for today. Are you reading out loud?
1 John 1:5-10 (KJV)
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
This week I am going to focus in on verse nine of our primary text. This Book, this verse, like all others Books of the Bible is talking to those who proclaim Jehovah (all three persons) as their God (Old and New Testament). There is a false teaching that since Jesus shed His Blood at Calvary and took it to the mercy seat all sin is forgiven, all persons are saved, and thus we are all going to Heaven. That is a lie from Hell. There is another teaching that all sins of the past, present, and future are forgiven for those who are saved. This is a so-called greasy grace. This is also a false teaching. If this were true there would be no need for verse nine of our text. The potential for the forgiveness of any and all sins was provided for at Calvary and all that followed. Forgiveness of sins past is available to all but we must receive it, like everything else in the Kingdom of God. Consider the following verse.
Acts 26:18 (KJV)
18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Following salvation if (not required) we sin it is not automatically forgiven but the Blood is still and forever available to us. When and if we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness. On the other hand, if we walk in an awareness of sin yet declare we have not sinned we are a liar. The tenth verse goes on to say that not only are we a liar but “his word is not in us”. What if the “word is not in us”? What does that mean? Jesus is the Word. Can one be saved going to Heaven and the Word not be in them? This is one of those phrases in the Bible that should cause us all to seek hard after the Lord.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here moving into chapter two of 1st John next Friday.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
