Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God and welcome to a weekly study of the Bible Book of Jude. The Lord has been bringing this Book up in my thinking for a few weeks and so here we are to study. This study will take the place of From the Prophets Chamber at least for the next few weeks. As we prepare to move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. This Bible book speaks to faith and disbelief, even the controversial topic of backsliding (going from saved to unsaved). When one has faith in something or someone they trust, rely upon and have an assurance of the thing or person. On the other hand, disbelief has to do with doubt, distrust, skepticism, and suspicion. Faith is the indispensable factor in pleasing God. Unbelief or disbelief is an anathema (abhorrence, abomination, loathing, curse) to God. He (God) doesn’t like it anymore when people don’t believe Him then you and I like it when people don’t believe us.
Last Saturday I left off speaking the origin of the physical body of Jesus. His Spirit came from Heaven minus all that made Him God and He came into the womb of Mary flesh, blood, and bone as any other person. Scripture, I believe, tells us that God made a physical body for Jesus just as He had Adam in the beginning. Let’s do a little review of Scripture. You will recall that the angel Gabriel came to Mary. Be sure you are reading out loud!
Luke 1:31 (KJV)
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
You will recall that this word “conceive” in the text is better translated and commonly translated as receive or take, so it would more accurately translate as take or receive into your womb. The physical body of Jesus did not come from the union of sperm from Joseph and egg from Mary. Consider the following.
Luke 1:35 (KJV)
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Now consider the following Scripture.
Hebrews 10:5 (KJV)
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
A body, an uncorrupted body like that of Adam the first man in the image and likeness and of like kind with God, was prepared by God for Jesus to inhabit just as one was prepared for the spirit of Adam (directly breathed into Adam of God) to inhabit. Finally consider this.
John 1:14 (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The Word, the Second Person of the Co-equal Trinity, became or inhabited flesh. Adam did not have a fallen spirit at birth, his origin and neither did Jesus. Jesus had to be like Adam. A sinless man sinned; a sinless man had to pay the penalty for all peoples. One final point and I will move on. It is impossible for a woman to produce a male child without the seed of a man. The woman’s ova (egg/seed) contain only the X chromosome which conveys the female sex characteristics. The male sperm (seed) may contain either an X or Y chromosome. Some sperm have the X and so the child is a female, and some sperm have the Y and so the child is a male.
You may be wondering what in the world all this has to do with the Book of Jude. Many refer to the children of Joseph and Mary as half-brothers or sisters of Jesus and they are not. I hope the discussion over these two weeks has not only been interesting but has brought clarity. We believe the Word of God, the Word became flesh, Mary had no contribution and neither did Joseph. The Spirit (soul/spirit) of Jesus was the same as from eternity past absent the things that make God, God. As a reminder these things are being everywhere present, all powerful, and all knowing.
Lord willing, I will pick up with the first verses of the Book of Jude next Saturday having set a good foundation.
