Greetings to all in the Kingdom of God and those who are entering. The Lord is so good. We are picking up once again today with our study of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. This was a major theme of Jesus’ earthly Ministry and thus we must follow suite. We are commanded to do as Jesus did and even greater things for, He is gone on to Heaven (John 14:12). Jesus taught and demonstrated the laws of the Kingdom of God and the Fathers’ ways, and we are to do likewise. Now, let’s go to our text Scripture and dive into today’s teaching.
Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV)
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
I have asked over and over, do we see this as a command that we are pursuing with all of our being? It seems that all too many times we look at a Scripture and perhaps say something like oh that is so good but then we walk away soon forgetting what we just saw. Then perhaps we wonder why we are in the same place spiritually and materially year after year. Let’s move to our next teaching from the mouth of the Master, our Master, our Lord.
Mark 4:26-29 (KJV)
26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
You will recognize that this teaching comes directly after the teaching of the sower. Remember, the sower is the one speaking the Word of God. The Seed is the Word of God. The ground is our spirit man, the soul and the spirit. Is what we are hearing strengthening the spirit man or weakening our spirit man? Is what we hear corrupting our thoughts or purifying our thoughts? All words are seed, are spirit, speak life not death. What kind of seed are you casting and allowing them to be cast into your ground?
We see that we cast the Word of God into our ground, thought life and spirit. Then what? Nothing. We don’t dig it up, if anything we water it which is to repeat the promise. This teaching and others comes under the umbrella of the spiritual law of sowing and reaping. This law works for saint and sinner alike. It is spiritual law. There are no, none, physical manifestations without a spiritual origin. Period! It is not enough to just say the Words; we must believe the Words spoken and they will produce a harvest. Jesus told us that idle words which are words spoken that we do not believe will come into judgement, we will give an account. The size of the harvest is dependent on the amount of Word (promises of God) sowed in faith and not counter balanced by corrupt speech.
Jesus goes on in our teaching text to say that we do not understand and don’t have to understand for this to work. We simply must have an obedient and willing heart. If we don’t hinder the Words spoken our spirit man by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our Teacher, our Guide, will bring us to the answers needed to produce the harvest. What do you expect the harvest to look like? It probably will not be a check in the mail or a pot of gold on the porch (although it could be) but something you have to do to harvest much like a farmer harvesting hay or corn or other crop.
One final point. Did you notice in Mark 4:28 the phrase “the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself”? The earth, our heart (mind and spirit) is feminine in gender therefore capable of reproducing whether it be good or bad seed (words).
TAKE HOME:
- A Kingdom of God law is that seed must be sown for a harvest. We sow seed all day every day. What kind of seed are we sowing, wheat or tares?
- Did you know that our mind and spirit will bring forth the harvest of our words?
- Are you inquiring of God concerning the harvest so as to be ready to do your part not just to sow but to harvest.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
