Greetings to all in the Kingdom of God and those who are entering. The Lord is so good. We are picking up once again today with our study of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. This was a major theme of Jesus’ earthly Ministry and thus we must follow suite. We are commanded to do as Jesus did and even greater things for, He is gone on to Heaven (John 14:12). Jesus taught and demonstrated the laws of the Kingdom of God and the Fathers’ ways, and we are to do likewise. Now, let’s go to our text Scripture and dive into today’s teaching.
Matthew 6:32-33 (AMP)
32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.
33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
I have asked over and over, do we see this as a command that we are pursuing with all of our being? It seems that all too many times we look at a Scripture and perhaps say something like oh that is so good but then we walk away soon forgetting what we just saw. Then perhaps we wonder why we are in the same place spiritually and materially year after year. Let’s move to our next teaching from the mouth of the Master, our Master.
Matthew 26:26-30 (KJV)
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
I think we all recognize this event as occurring the same day that Jesus would hang on the Cross. This is commonly referred to as the “Last Supper” or we look at it as the Communion Table. By way of review, the wafer, cracker, bread of the Communion represents the body of Jesus, the Word of God. We must consume all of it (the Word). It is not a buffet. The wine, grape juice, or other represent the shed Blood of Jesus which wiped away sin and gave or restored eternal life.
Now, let’s look at the phrase “I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom”. When is Jesus talking about? It is interesting that He does not say “my kingdom” but “my Father’s kingdom”. In time past I have thought of this as being when He arose from the dead but that may not be correct. It may be more accurate that Jesus to talking about the time of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb when all is finished, and He (Jesus) passes the Kingdom to the Father.
1 Corinthians 15:22-24 (KJV)
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
Let’s take a look at verse twenty-four in the NIV and AMP.
1 Corinthians 15:24 (NIV)
24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.
1 Corinthians 15:24 (AMP)
24 After that comes the end (the completion), when He delivers over the kingdom to God the Father after rendering inoperative and abolishing every [other] rule and every authority and power.
So, when is the end? At His Second Coming and setting His reign in the earth for 1000 years or with New Heaven and earth? It seems to me it would be with the Second Coming, but I am open to other views supported by Scripture.
TAKE HOME:
- The bread of the Communion Table represents the Word of God. We are to consume all of it. It is not a pick and choose option. His body was broken so that ours could be healthy now and made immortal at the Catching Away. Brokenness was remedied in every area of this natural life, especially wealth and health.
- The fruit of the vine represents the shed Blood of Jesus which obliterated sin (when we make Him Lord) and gave us eternal life as sons of God in exchange for damnation and eternal death.
- The day is coming when all is complete when Jesus will turn over this Kingdom to God the Father.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
