DESPISED AND REJECTED
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, saved by the Blood of Jesus and set apart for His use. The Lord is really good. Being set apart for His us is a really, really good thing. We are either set apart for His us, our own use which is a dead end, or the use of the demons and that has terrible consequences. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible expanding our reach with the Truth. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today was provided by our good friend and faithful man of God, Joe Getchell Jr, who takes some really wonderful pictures. Thank you, Joe.
Now, let’s turn our attention fully to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud. You know why.
Isaiah 53:1-3 (KJV)
1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
As we pick up once again with verse two, I left you yesterday with a couple of questions. I mentioned that although Jesus was not physically attractive, He had no problem attracting a multitude. Perhaps He had a good children’s program or really stellar music? Or could it be the Anointing, how He spoke as one with authority, how He moved in compassion to heal those who would believe. Now, the questions. What might one conclude if there are no multitudes? If the lame are not leaping, the blind are not seeing, the deaf are not hearing, the maimed are not restored, the bound are not delivered, and the dead (physical and spiritual) are not raised what do we know? We can conclude that we are not doing it like Jesus, we are doing as He instructed. We are not teaching the Truth, but a mixture of good and evil. If you don’t have it, please get my book: Sacred Cows Among the Ekklesia. Once again, the Words of Jesus.
Matthew 6:22-23 (KJV)
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Now verse three before we wind it up for the day.
Isaiah 53:3 (KJV)
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Scripture records that many believed upon Him during His earthly Ministry but many turned away in the end. It is hard to fathom, but we see that today, people believe for a season then go back to the kingdom of darkness. The spiritual leaders of the day for the most part was not in His corner and finally were participants in common with the Romans (world) in putting Him on the Cross. As one studies the Gospels, we see that the people for the most part did not have great affection for Jesus but what His Hand could provide. Are we like that today? I used the word “affection” for they were not capable of the highest love (agapē) for their spirit man was dead. The One who would give them life was before them but mostly unrecognized even by His own disciples, those who were later Apostles. Jesus sorrowed over His people, over Jerusalem.
Matthew 23:37 (KJV)
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
There was grief all around Him in those days and in this day. Perhaps, He was even faced with and tempted to grieve at the death of His earthly father, Joseph.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
