1 JOHN – CHAPTER TWO VERSE TWENTY-FOUR

Greetings precious children of the Father, joint heirs of all creation, natural and spiritual, and my brothers and sisters in Christ. Welcome back to the Book of love written by the one I have been calling the Apostle of love. I will be picking up with the twentieth verse of the second chapter and see how far the Lord takes us. Be sure you are reading out loud.
1 John 2:24-27 (KJV)
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
It would seem that a large part of the Apostle Johns audience are Jews who have converted or don’t see a need to convert. Those that have converted to help them remember the Truth that the only way to the Father is by the Son. It was the Truth then, now, and has always been the Truth. Anyone preaching that one can go to Heaven without Jesus is of the antichrist spirit which is wickedness. Let us with all diligence keep our focus on the Son and on the Father diligently searching the Scriptures for all the Truth to be more and more like Him.
The Apostle reminds those reading or hearing this letter (epistle) that the promise of eternal life came from the mouth of the Master.
John 3:14-16 (NASB)
14 “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
The word translated “seduce” in the 26th verse of our primary Bible text is used 39 times in the New Testament, twice it is translated as seduce and twenty-four times as deceive. It seems to me that this seduction or deception can occur either purposely or in ignorance. I think most frequently it is in ignorance for they firmly believe the lie being fully deceived themselves. I cannot emphasize strongly enough the necessity that we search out the absolute Truth in Scripture (not commentaries or our favorite preacher) with all diligence. It is life and death, even Heaven or Hell dear ones. There are things we can learn from those who have gone before us but we are responsible to determine and cling to the Truth. Be a good Berean.
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
