HE WAS CUT OFF

Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Welcome back to this enlightening and stimulating study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. God is so good. The featured picture today of Jesus on the Cross in the process of redeeming those who will, reconciling us with the Father bringing peace with God for those who will.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 53:6-9 (KJV)
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
As we review our primary Bible text, we are again reminded that Jesus took our punishment, that is for those who receive Him as Lord and Savior. As you will recall if you have studied the Scriptures Jesus said very little in the Judgment Hall. He was taken from there to Golgotha where He was nailed to a Cross and died. I reminded us yesterday that we are three-part beings with a spirit, a soul (mind, will, emotions), and body. Adam was a three-part being and so was (and is) Jesus a three-part being. Of the three parts what is being talked about when it says He was cut off out of the land of the living? To have a correct answer let’s think about the first Adam. When Adam sinned his spirit man died immediately because he had violated the Law of Sin and Death. The spirit man did not cease to exist but was separated from God, was dead to God. Some 900 years later his physical body died. At no time did or has his soul died. First spiritual death, operating totally on a natural level.
Genesis 3:7-8 (KJV)
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Next came the physical death.
Genesis 5:5 (KJV)
5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
What about Jesus? First spiritual death, He was made sin, the wages of sin is death. For the first time in all of eternity past He is separated from the Father.
Matthew 27:45-46 (KJV)
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Then physical death.
Luke 23:44-46 (KJV)
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
The Hand of God is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enabled this moment just like all of the life of Jesus as a man and He does the same thing for us.
Hebrews 9:14-15 (KJV)
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, the Lord is good, only good, and He cannot lie.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
