KINGDOM OF GOD – PART SEVEN
PREACH WHAT JESUS PREACHED
Video link: https://youtu.be/qbExvg2blfQ
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this vital Bible Study of the Kingdom of God. Jesus preached predominately the Kingdom of God/Heaven. The Kingdom of God and repentance was the message that John the Baptist preached as well.
Matthew 3:1-2 (KJV)
1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Then here comes Jesus at the very start of His earthly ministry immediately after being baptized in the River Jordan by John the Baptist.
Mark 1:14-15 (KJV)
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Jesus continued the same message that was given John the Baptist. Does this give us any insight into the importance of the message. Are you hearing about repentance and the Kingdom of God? Sadly, many Christians and their leadership have no idea of what they might repent. I believe that will become increasingly clear as this study (week to week) proceeds. Just a hint, it always boils down to unbelief, laziness/ignorance, and/or rejecting the Truth for another gospel (think Adam and Eve).
Jesus told us that the Kingdom of God was within us (Luke 17:21). The Apostle Paul added that the Kingdom of God was righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). Someone might be saying that it is all spiritual and for the sweet by and by. It is the Truth for then, for now, and forever. All physical manifestations in the third dimension (material or physical) have a fourth-dimension origin whether it is your bank account, your body, and so on. Then we learned that God gave all authority to man concerning the earth (Genesis 1:26). In addition, we learned about the first four of the original eternal commands given to man (Genesis 1:28). Man, and now you and I have the full authority as did Adam backed by the Blessing (Holy Spirit of God) to accomplish these mandates with no toil nor sweat.
The first four commands (yes commands) are to be fruitful meaning to bring forth, to multiply meaning to increase, replenish meaning to cause to be full, and subdue meaning to keep under by force (control as opposed to dominion). Abundance, prosperity, is a God idea, it was His original intent, and He has not changed. How were these things to be accomplished then and now? By the words of our mouth. Just like our Father and just like Jesus. How did creation come into physical manifestation? How did all that Jesus did (more accurately the Father did in response to the words of Jesus) come into physical manifestation? Words! As we wind down for today let’s look at three more eternal commands or mandates from God.
Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Command number five is to take care of all the God has put in our hand. Command number six is to guard all that God has put in our hand. Finally, command number seven we are not to intermix good and evil.
TAKE HOME:
- John the Baptist and Jesus preached repentance and the Kingdom of God. What about you, your Church?
- We are commanded to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then we can expect the abundance of good natural things in our lives. Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
- But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
- We are commanded to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue the earth, take care of what is in our hand, to guard what is in our hand, and not mix good and evil.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here with our study of the Kingdom of God tomorrow. The Lord is good, He is not the source of our problems, and He cannot lie! God loves you; we love you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
