THE KINGDOM OF GOD – PART TWELVE

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this vital Bible Study of the Kingdom of God. We are discovering that Jesus preached predominately the Kingdom of God/Heaven and repentance. If one desires the Kingdom of God, they must repent or turn from the kingdom of darkness completely. If they are born again and, in the Kingdom, but not walking in the fulness of the Kingdom, a change, repentance, is needed to walk in Kingdom of God ways. We are not waiting on God; God is waiting on us. Now, let’s review our anchor Scripture for this study, a command from our King and Lord Himself.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
A king rules by authority, a lord rules by ownership. We are not our own, we have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20) and we are kings under the King of kings in the Kingdom (1 Timothy 6:15). Let’s move forward and look at two more verses for further insights into this Kingdom that is nothing but good news.
Matthew 5:19-20 (KJV)
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Did you read this passage slowly and thoughtfully? This is pretty strong Word. By the way, what commandments is He talking about?
Matthew 5:16-18 (KJV)
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Jesus basically validates the entire Old Testament with this passage. Sacrificial law has passed or been fulfilled but still stands as a powerful witness to Jesus the Christ. The law that has been nullified to an extent by Grace is the Law of Sin and Death. Meaning that when one sins, they die spiritually immediately. We have grace for ignorance and time for repentance however a life of sin will lead, even one who was once born again, to spiritual death and utter darkness.
Did you notice that breaking the least of those commandments and teaching others to do so did not lead to Hell but led to a low rung on the ladder. On the other hand, those who teach the Truth, all of the commandments and prophecies, and do them will be great in the Kingdom of God. The Church is rife with wrong doctrine, traditions of men, doctrines of demons being taught from pulpit and pew alike. What will their fate be at the Bema, the Judgement Seat of Christ? He did not say they were lost but there will be little to no reward. Next Saturday we (the Holy Spirit and me) will have more to say about Matthew 5:20.
TAKE HOME:
- There are no physical manifestations that do not have a spiritual root or cause, that is what our anchor Scripture tells us.
- Jesus did not come to destroy the Law or the Prophets but to fulfill, some of which is done, much of which remains. We must teach the Old Testament so called as fervently as the New Testament.
- Breaking any of the commandments and teaching others to do the same does not cost your salvation but has no reward. On the other hand, keeping them and doing them leads to great reward. Great reward is not just for the Five-Fold Ministers.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here with our study of the Kingdom of God next Saturday. The Lord is good, He is not the source of our problems, and He cannot lie! God loves you; we love you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
