SING, O BARREN
Video link: https://youtu.be/wxT2zkRKncw
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this engaging study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. The Lord is really good. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you helping us expand our reach with the gospel. That you for valuing this enough to share. The featured picture is of a cute little chipmunk on an old stump and was supplied by Marilyn Stevens who takes stunning wildlife pictures. Thank you, Marilyn.
We just finished Chapter 53, if anyone has a question of the goodness of our God, reread it, study it. Perhaps a new reader is saying: I don’t know that I believe all that about God, Heaven and Hell.
Psalm 14:1 (KJV)
1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Look around, kick your brain into gear, all of this did not just float together by happenstance. What a foolish thought.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read our loud. Yes, out loud. Rebellious sheep are lunchmeat for the roaring lion.
Isaiah 54:1-5 (KJV)
1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;
3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
As we engage verse one, we find a discussion about natural children and spiritual children. In the time this was written to not have children brought shame and even poverty.
Isaiah 54:1 (AMP)
1 SING, O barren one, you who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who did not travail with child! For the [spiritual] children of the desolate one will be more than the children of the married wife, says the Lord.
As we go further into the chapter this verse and those following seem to be addressing the woman who is barren or is without a husband for any reason. We will see as we go along how the Lord Jesus is the husband of the desolate and/or barren woman. Let’s look at what the Holy Spirit said through the Apostle Paul to the saints at Galatia concerning this passage.
Galatians 4:26-29 (AMP)
26 But the Jerusalem above (the Messianic kingdom of Christ) is free, and she is our mother.
27 For it is written in the Scriptures, Rejoice, O barren woman, who has not given birth to children; break forth into a joyful shout, you who are not feeling birth pangs, for the desolate woman has many more children than she who has a husband.
28 But we, brethren, are children [not by physical descent, as was Ishmael, but] like Isaac, born in virtue of promise.
29 Yet [just] as at that time the child [of ordinary birth] born according to the flesh despised and persecuted him [who was born remarkably] according to [the promise and the working of] the [Holy] Spirit, so it is now also.
As we focus on this passage, we see he is talking about natural children, people, and those born of God, spiritual children, those born of a promise. The people, children of the world, the natural, persecute and despise, those of us born of the Holy Spirit. If they do not, perhaps you are not bearing fruits of righteousness. A child of God walking with Him is to be healthy and prosperous.
3 John 1:2 (PassionNTPsa)
2 Beloved friend, I pray that you are prospering in every way and that you continually enjoy good health, just as your soul is prospering.
Is this you? Is this me? If not, our soul is not prospering. We must examine our thought life, and the words of our mouth. Is what we believe, think, and say the Truth?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. The Lord is good, He is love, He is light, and He cannot lie.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
