CAIN AND ABEL

Welcome back to the trail of blood that started in Heaven and ends in Heaven. Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world and with His Resurrection He took His very own Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. In the mind, the reality of God, existence without time, the Redemption had already occurred when He breathed of Himself into the body of Adam. I will continue teaching today from my book, Awake, Arise, and Triumph, Book II, God’s Road to Redemption, chapter six. I left off yesterday talking about Blood Covenant between us and God and married couples. Now, let’s move forward.
CAIN AND ABEL
The next time we come across the trail of blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven is in Genesis, chapter four, with Cain and Abel. Cain and Abel are the first named children of Adam and Eve that are recorded. Study of Scripture suggests there were other children antedating them, as told by the naming of Eve (the mother of all living) and subsequent verses in chapter four.
Genesis 4:3-8 (KJV)
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. [2]
First, we see that these two brothers had brought an offering unto the Lord. We know this offering is a first fruits offering, and perhaps a sin offering. Verse three tells us that Cain brought an offering of fruit to the Lord. It is not clear that it is the first fruit of the season. In fact, it is unlikely since we find that he is fully like his father, the devil, in subsequent verses. Satan has established himself as a liar with mankind in his interactions with Ishshâ and is about to introduce himself as murderer in this relationship with Cain and Abel. Of course, he was all of this in the world that was before. In verse four, the phrase “he also brought” does not mean that what Abel did is what Cain did. It simply means, they both brought offerings to the Lord. However, Abel brought of the first of his flock (the first born), and the very best. This tells us that this is a first fruit offering. It also tells us by the phrase “The fat thereof” that it is a sin offering. “The fat thereof” signifies this animal was the very best. Notice how this reference to fat is used in the following verse.
Leviticus 4:8 (KJV)
8 And he shall take off from it all the fat of the bullock for the sin offering; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards, [2]
Clearly, the reference to fat is not only the very best animal, but also to the fact that it was to be atonement for sin. We can differentiate this from a tithe, because the tithe is not the first one, but the tenth one (Leviticus 27:32). Now, fruit of the ground is an acceptable peace offering or first fruit offering, but not for sin (Leviticus 7:11-13). Additionally, we know this offering was for sin by what God says to Cain when he has not brought the correct offering. In verse seven, God is talking to Cain about sin and how he must exercise control over sin. Basically, the Lord says, “Cain, if you bring me a correct sin offering, I will accept it and all will be well; but I cannot compromise and accept something else. It would be an abomination to the coming “Seed”. Blood not fruit and vegetables is the only acceptable offering for sin. As the Scripture clearly says, Cain does not rule over sin. Sin (or he) rules over Cain, who then conspires and kills Abel.
TAKE HOME:
- Adam and Eve had many children before and after those which are named in Scripture being Cain, Able, and Seth.
- Satan and all his are deceivers (liars) and murderers.
- Nothing substitutes for the Blood with regard to sin. Hebrews 13:11-12 (KJV) 11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. 12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 1 John 1:7 (KJV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
