I hope you are praying every day with a whole heart for God’s mercy upon Israel, for their protection, and peace.
Psalm 122:6-9 (KJV)
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.

Now, let’s plunge into our primary study of 1st John continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
1 John 2:5-8 (KJV)
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
The Apostle John, so called Apostle of love, is repeatedly driving home the importance of love (agapē/agapaō) which is obedience to Scripture with a selfless motive. As we study verse five let me paraphrase. The Apostle John is saying when we guard the Word of God in our hearts, thoughts, which is not a passive deal, we are maturing in the love of God. Our love walk is maturing, being perfected. In this way we can know that we are in Him. Let me ask a question. What if we rarely think about the Word of God except perhaps Wednesday night and Sunday morning? This is not an emotional thing, this love (agapē/agapaō), it is responding from our heart, from knowledge.
John goes on to tell us that if that is the case we will be walking as Jesus walked in His earthly ministry. This word walk has to do with how He lived, what He was occupied with. We are to live and be occupied with the same things. He preached, spoke about, the gospel of the Kingdom of God. We may not be in the Five-Fold Ministry but our life should reflect the Kingdom of God not another brand of what the world already has.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. The Lord is good, never lies, never the author of bad things in our lives, the lives of His children, brethren.
