Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of 1st John. Written by the Apostle of love as moved upon by the Holy Spirit. It is said in Church history that of the original Apostles, John is the only one to die a natural peaceful death. One might want to ask why. Please take a moment and share this and all of our teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. If you embrace the mission of this Ministry and are benefiting from the teachings yourself, why in the world would you not share?
Please remember that I have written several books, you may order at Amazon.com/books using this link https://t.ly/TcFpQ and search Dr. David R. Wood.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text.
1 John 2:3-8 (KJV)
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
Last Friday I ended talking about commandment or commandments and the consequences of obedience and disobedience. I presented several Old Testament verses. Perhaps there is a reader that exclaimed “but that is Old Testament”, well here we go right from the mouth of Jesus.
Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV)
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Luke 6:46-49 (KJV)
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Which camp do you want to be in, which camp are you in, the “doeth them” or the “doeth not”? This is not hard, what does your life look like? Do you have the abundant life of obedience or the just enough or not enough life of compromise and the curse? I will end for this week with the fifth verse.
1 John 2:3-5 (NLT)
3 And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments.
4 If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. 5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.
Let’s ask ourselves if we are living in Him.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember God is only good, only love, just, and cannot lie.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
