THE EXERCISE OF OUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH IS THE PATH OF LOVE

Greetings dear children of our Father God. What a privilege to be a child of God, a son of God, a joint heirs with Christ, a king and priest in the Kingdom of God.
LIGHT TO LEARN:
- Jesus is the Truth.
- The Word, which is Jesus, is the Truth.
- The Holy Spirit is Truth and points to Jesus, to the Word.
- The laws of God, the 613 recorded in Scripture and the spiritual laws that govern all is Truth. These laws are the Word, spoken and maintained by the Word (Hebrews 1:3).
- Knowledge of the Word is the foundation for the Truth to be exercised in our lives.

1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
Today I am moving forward to talk about “truth”. From our text we see that if we don’t know the truth we will not be able to walk in, exercise, this divine love, agapē/agapaō. So, what is the truth? At its core truth is the Word of God just as love at its core is obedience to the Word. We can’t be obedient to something of which we are ignorant. So, you see that knowledge also plays a vital role. This is in part why you hear me speak often of studying to show ourselves approved unto God rightly dividing the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15) and being good Bereans (Acts 17:11).
Several years ago, I published a Newsletter, and a Booklet titled “Knowledge of the Truth”. Those writings delineated four aspects of Truth. I capitalize Truth for it is of Divine origin. Truth of Divine origin is the only Truth that is good for all time for all peoples for all circumstances. Yes, there is absolute Truth, and its only source is God’s Word. Now, let me say something here that may send some into a convulsive fit. Not everything in the Bible are the Words of God. Many people speak what is on their mind and even the devils speak and that is not Truth, not the Words of God. Yes, God inspired to be included for our learning but not His Words nor His will. An example is when Peter told Jesus it was not for Him to go to the Cross (Matthew 16:21-23). It is true that Peter said that, but it was not the Words God nor the will of God. Those were the words of Peter and the will of Peter. Now, let’s look at the four aspects of Truth keeping in mind that all four point to Jesus, the Word of God.
Aspect number one:
John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus is the Truth and He is the Word.
Aspect number two:
John 17:17 (KJV)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
The Holy Spirit is Truth but points to Jesus, the Word.
Aspect number three:
John 16:13 (KJV)
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
The law, which is the Word of God is Truth and it points one way or another to Jesus.
Aspect number four:
Psalm 119:142 (KJV)
142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Did you notice how right standing, right doing which doing things God’s way and the Truth are intimately connected? To love, agapē/agapaō, in the Truth is intimately related to our knowledge of the Truth and our acting upon the Truth only.
LIGHT TO TAKE HOME:
- Jesus is the Truth.
- The Word, which is Jesus, is the Truth.
- The Holy Spirit is Truth and points to Jesus, to the Word.
- The laws of God, the 613 recorded in Scripture and the spiritual laws that govern all is Truth. These laws are the Word, spoken and maintained by the Word (Hebrews 1:3).
- Knowledge of the Word is the foundation for the Truth to be exercised in our lives.
