THE KILLING OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY
1 JOHN 3:16
Video link: https://youtu.be/38iEwB7DifQ
Greetings dear and precious people of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. I will be continuing with our study of the Book of 1st John after a brief word about this tragic day. The featured picture today is John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s’ motorcade on that fateful day in Dallas Texas when the world stood still. This tragedy took place 61 years ago on November 22nd 1963. I still remember where I was when I first heard that our President had been murdered. Again, this serves as a reminder for us to pray for those in authority at every level across America. Not for their destruction but for their wisdom in righteousness to guide this Covenant nation.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
I do not believe the Lord is at all pleased when we pray for bad things concerning our leaders because we disagree with their platform or because it violates Scripture. Remember Jesus died for all and God loves all and it is His will that none perish. All have ample time and clarity of vision to choose salvation. Without salvation our home is Hell forever and that is too awful for anyone. When the wicked come to office it is because in one way or another, we the Church have allowed it, so rather than anger in the Church, repentance is the order of the day for the Church.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and continue reading out loud, yes, out loud.
1 John 3:15-18 (KJV)
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Jesus entered the earth for the express purpose of going to the Cross and redeeming mankind back to the Father. Someone had to pay the price of sin, Jesus choose to be that one. A sinless man sinned (Adam), therefore a sinless man (Jesus) had to pay the penalty of sin for justice to be served. The word translated perceive in verse sixteen of our text means to know. We know or have evidence of the love of God by His act of laying down His life that we might have eternal life. The Apostle goes on to say that in the same way we lay down our lives to serve others. This is not talking in any way about physical death. In the worlds way of thinking there is great loss in this but the reality is that there is great gain, now and forever. Listen to Jesus as I close for today.
Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
