Greetings to all and welcome back to this enlightening and empowering study of the Bible Book of 1st John. What a wonderful Book and how blessed we are to have the light of Scripture. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today reading out loud.
1 John 5:9-13 (KJV)
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
In the prior teaching you may have wondered about the testimony of the Spirit, the Holy Ghost. Of course, the Wisdom Jesus displayed in His Ministry, the miracles, and the Resurrection from the dead, the Ascension, and the physical manifestations of the Holy Ghost as He baptized the one-hundred and twenty on the Day of Pentecost. As I wrote this I was reminded of the following passage from the Gospel of Mark.
Mark 16:19-20 (KJV)
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
The very same thing took place in the Ministry of Jesus as in the ministry of these disciples after His ascension. This is supposed to be ongoing in the earth and not just a dab here and there. Consider the following Scripture.
John 3:34 (KJV)
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
Could it be that some that out there were not sent of God? Could it be that many are not speaking the Words of God? This Scripture tells us that those whom He has sent and speak His Words have the Spirit, Power of God, without limit. So, what’s the deal? The answer to the first two questions in this paragraph is, yes. The Church is hogtied with traditions of men, doctrines of demons, mob mentality, and music triggering the release of feel-good hormones (dopamine) in the body.
Briefly let’s get back to our primary Bible text and the idea that a primary witness that Jesus is who He is said to be, is that we have the Witness, the Holy Spirit, within. Here is another witness to this wonderful Truth.
Romans 8:16 (NASB)
16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
