WHAT DOES SAYING I LOVE GOD MEAN

Welcome back to our study of Divine love (agapē/agapaō), the love that God is and expresses. We as His children made in His image and likeness likewise are love and express this same love. The main thing that drove me to write this book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Be Love” was the continual hearing of this love but not hearing a definition or what it looked like. This of course is also true of other “Church” words. Thus far I have discussed that is love of Divine origin and resident in us is first and foremost obedience to Scripture. It is selfless in motivation. This love walks in Blood Covenant with God. Currently I am teaching about love and faith, the power twins.
Faith is coupled or underpinned by love; faith is what gives us victory. Faith is only as strong as our love (agapē/agapaō). When our faith is weak, we must check our love walk meter. We see verses like the following which if taken by themselves would make it seem that faith stands alone, but it does not.
1 John 5:4 (KJV)
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
As important as faith is, it accomplishes nothing in the supernatural (the perfection of the Spirit realm manifest in the natural realm) without love. I am not aware of anything that stands alone, generally it is three. Remember 1 Corinthians 13:13 which tells us that faith, hope, and love travel together, the greatest being love. Back to the faith and love combo.
Galatians 5:6 (KJV)
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
The word “worketh” in the preceding verse means to make active, operative, effectual, or powerful according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Just like our Master, Jesus who is our example, we must be dead to ourselves, our will, our agenda, but alive to what we hear the Father say and what we see the Father do, for we can do nothing of ourselves (John 8:28).
We will now move forward into the chapter titled “Love and Fear”.
I will now explore the relationship between love and fear. As I study Scripture it seems clear to me that fear is the flip side or evil side of love. Love is based on a selfless expression of our will, adherence to the Blood Covenant, and the will to do the Word of God being dead to self. Fear on the other hand is all about me. You see that is why Lucifer fell; it became about him and not about God the Father. Fear is a tormenting bondage, but love is liberating freedom. If you find yourself being overcome with fears, the following Scripture is a wonderful tool to send the devil on his way.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
The fear mentioned in this verse is actually a timidity or a state of being lukewarm. Paul makes it crystal clear to Timothy (and us) that fear (timidity or being lukewarm) is never from God. Fear of any kind leads us away from God and is sin. So, we want nothing to do with fear. Remember you must resist him, the spirit of fear, and he will flee (James 4:7). It is the world system and its rulers who give us a spirit of fear not God.
God has given us power, His Spirit in and with us, which is the miracle working power of the Holy Spirit. In addition to power, God has given us the Spirit of love. You may recall that the first of the fruit of the spirit is love, love is a primary feature of the nature of God and the people born of God. This spirit of love in our spirit is the ability (by Grace through faith) to die to self and do the Scripture in any and all circumstances so that the perfect will of God is witnessed in the earth by the Church, and the dying, perishing world. Where our power falls short His makes up the difference and when our love is not quite enough His makes up the difference, a perfect expression. We have also been given the capacity for a sound mind which is an unconfused, clear, and disciplined mind that exerts self-control. That is to say it is our will to be willing and to be obedient (Isaiah 1:19) to Scripture therefore expressing the wonderful love of God. We are to be a living breathing expression of God, of Love Himself.

Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
