BY HIS STRIPS WE WERE HEALED

Greetings dear saints of God and others. Welcome to our ongoing Study of “The Kingdom of God”. This was the central theme of Jesus’ Ministry and is to be ours as well. Now let’s get to our anchor Scripture and then jump into more instruction (commands) from the Master.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
This is the one hundred and tenth time for us to look at this Scripture and it does not get old but is taking root within us as it should. It is a command which means it is actionable revelation which we are to be about day in and day out. There is no such thing as Kingdom of God and righteousness time and then everything else being separate. All that we do is part of the Kingdom of God assignment or stewardship and it is all to be done His way. We do all as unto the Lord. Now, let’s plunge into a rather familiar passage of Scripture, the “Last Supper”.
Luke 22:15-20 (KJV)
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
This is hours before the Cross, in fact before the next sunset (next day) He will have been crucified and buried. They are in the upper room and are preparing for Passover, it is the day of Passover. Jesus dies on the day of Passover and rises on First Fruits. Knowing what lay just ahead how many of us could say as He did “I have desired to eat this Passover”? Over the next three days all will be fulfilled for the Kingdom of God to be available to all. Notice in verse seventeen (number of victory) He has the disciples divide the wine from one cup. He is the One cup. He then had them brake and distribute the bread among themselves. He is the bread broken for us.
Now, I want you to notice something very significant in verse twenty (number of redemption). He tells them and us that His shed blood is the new testament. Many things, significant things, changed with the Cross, stripping Satan in Hell, and the Resurrection but chief among them is the Blood of Jesus shed once for all for all eternity. The shed blood and death of Christ provided redemption, the forgiveness of sin, the veil is torn we have access to the Father and He to us. The broken body and the shed blood dealt with the sin problem taking it out of the way that we could not only be righteous (right standing) but do righteousness (do things His way). Authority and the Blessing (Power of God) restored to those who make Him Lord.
Ephesians 1:7 (KJV)
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
We are family again with our sins forgiven, we are cleansed.
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
His body was broken for sin came in the flesh; we can now be dead to sin but alive to righteousness (right standing and right doing). The broken body and shed blood of Jesus healed our broken relationship with the Father.
TAKE HOME:
- All that we do is part of the Kingdom of God assignment or stewardship and it is all to be done His way.
- Jesus told the disciples and us at the Last Supper that His shed blood is the new testament.
- We have redemption through the Blood of Jesus and by His broken body we are dead to sin and alive to righteousness.
