REFUSE TO CHOSE SIN

Greeting dear and precious saints of God, little children as the Apostle John refers to us, and welcome back to these enlightening and empowering teachings of 1st John. The Lord is so good little ones. Are we looking and listening to these Scriptures to understand, guard in our hearts, and do, or is it more of a religious exercise for the day? The Words of God which we make our own take us one direction, a very good direction, but the words of the world perverted by the original pervert take us in an altogether different direction. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today continuing to read out loud.
1 John 3:6-10 (KJV)
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Wow, brother John gets right to the point in verse eight with no beating around the bush. When we sin, we are doing or acting like the devil and when we do right, we are doing or acting like our Heavenly Father. When we choose to sin, we know our old man is not entirely dead. Let’s look at our verse in the New American Standard Bible.
1 John 3:8 (NASB)
8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
Here we see more clearly that we are not talking about the person who is striving to avoid sin, but one who continues to sin as before salvation. These are still serving the devil and not Father God. Listen to Jesus.
John 8:44 (KJV)
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Sin is the nature of the devils, our old man, and the unsaved, but we are putting on the new man being conformed to the image of God, seeking after the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Jesus came primarily to destroy the works of the devil which was conceived in the Garden of Eden on the Day of Sin and Death. Jesus returned light to the earth. Each person who receives Jesus as Savior once again has the Holy Spirit, the Anointing within to bring light of the Word. With the coming of Jesus, we can choose God as our Father, be restored fully to the image and likeness of God, be children of God and not just servants, and all things are ours once again as joint-heirs with Christ Jesus. Listen to what Jesus said He came to give us.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Stealing, killing, and destroying are of darkness, eternal life and an abundant life here and now is of light.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here Friday the 18th, next Friday is the Day of Atonement. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
