THE KINGDOM OF GOD – PART TWENTY-NINE
IGNORANCE, FAILURE TO STUDY, OTHER GODS ARE NO EXCUSE
Video link: https://youtu.be/zv200gnNiRA
Greetings to all, faithful partners, faithful followers, and first-time visitors. Welcome back to this study of the Kingdom of God. The main thing that Jesus taught and demonstrated was the Kingdom of God. Since it was important to Him, we must make it important to us. Scripture like God is timeless so this was not just important then but is important now and will always be important. Without further ado let’s go to our anchor Scripture.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Once again, I will ask both of us, do we understand this command? Are we doing this? Are we willing to change to do this command? Is what we are thinking, saying, and doing and the impact on the Kingdom of God in the forefront of our thoughts? Do we evaluate our thoughts, words, and actions with regard to His righteousness? Now, let’s move forward concluding Jesus’ teaching of the secrets of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness using the parable of the sower.
Matthew 13:19-23 (KJV)
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
TAKE HOME:
- When we don’t understand the Word of God it is our responsibility to pursue understanding. How? Prayer and meditative study of the passage in full context. Wayside ground is unfruitful.
- It is our responsibility to store up the treasure of the Word of God in our hearts developing deep roots that can withstand the storms of life. Stoney ground is unfruitful.
- We must avoid idolatry placing other people, things, pursuits ahead of our place in the Kingdom of God doing things His way at all times. The thorny ground is unfruitful.
- It is vital that we hear the Word, for this is how faith comes, and understand it. In this way we will be fruitful. This is not automatic, we must study (2 Timothy 2:15) and do.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
