WE ARE NOT CREATED BEINGS LIKE ANGELS, WE WERE MADE IN THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF GOD

Greetings and welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries. A short while ago we received a prayer request here at the Ministry that involved people practicing the occult, and demons were wreaking havoc in this person’s life. We responded to that prayer request, but I was also quickened to do a brief teaching concerning Christians and demons. This study will by no means be definitive. This study will give a good foundation for ordering our thoughts concerning demons. You will also come away knowing without a doubt that you have total dominance over demons.
Thus far in this study we have established that demons are created creatures in what we call the angel class, they are not in the god class as are we. They have likely existed as a creation of God for who knows how long. Perhaps time is not even a relevant way to think about it anyway. It is unlikely that God decided some six-thousand years ago to start creating, making things. We have every reason to believe that creating is a part of His nature, character, and has been ongoing forever. We, however, are unique. That is not to say there have not been other life forms that had an appearance similar to us but were not made in the image and likeness of God. The following Scripture gives us a peep into our uniqueness.
Psalm 8:4-6 (KJV)
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
This seems to be an angel speaking in amazement concerning God’s making of man. The word “angels” in verse five is a mistranslation, it is actually the pleural form of God, ʾelōhîm according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. We, human being are created just a little lower than God and this angel observed that God gave us dominion over all “the works of thy hands;” and “hast put all things under his feet:” There are no beings between us and God, and we are just a little lower or beneath God. That is important for us to understand in all humility and walk in for in it is our authority. Holy angels and fallen angels (demons) fall below us or are created lower than men/women.
In the Garden of Eden not only could man resist the Serpent but had authority over him backed by the Blessing (Holy Spirit) and I suppose any number of angels. With the fall man could resist the devils/demons and exercise some authority but individually were not backed by the Blessing, or were they, in submission to God. Remember what God told Cain.
Genesis 4:5-7 (KJV)
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Now in Christ Jesus we not only can resist the enemy and not miss a step in our assignments but have full dominion over him including casting him out of people and places of our dominion or jurisdiction. This is done with the words of our mouth in faith, knowing who we are in Christ Jesus (Psalm 8), walking in love, led of the Holy Spirit. Thoughts can change things in our physical bodies and nourish our spirits, but do not effect change in our circumstances. Words are needed to change things, create, and bring things into manifestation. More on this to follow. Where in Scripture is the example of something done thinking about it? We must speak!
TAKE HOME:
- We are not created beings like angels, we were made in the image and likeness of God, just a little lower than God and given dominion over the works of God and all things are under our feet. This is how we were made and again how we are in Christ Jesus.
- We have dominion over all of God’s creation and over all created beings. This includes fallen angels and holy angels. Review Ephesians chapters one and two.
- God is a creator and has been from eternity past. We are in His image and likeness and are likewise creators. God has dominion (authority) over all and we operate in His delegated authority according to His will.
