Friday – March 22, 2024, Adar Bet 12, 5784
Greetings dear ones in Christ Jesus and welcome back to our study of 1st John. Please take a moment and share this teaching. O how fortunate we are to have the whole of the Holy Scriptures, what is called the Holy Bible. The Apostle John, the Apostle of love, did not have that, but he had three years with Jesus, and he had this.
John 14:26 (KJV)
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Do we have the Bible? Do we study (not just read) the Bible? How long have we been with Jesus? Do we have the Holy Spirit as our Teacher and the One to bring all things to our remembrance?
Before we move into our primary Bible text for today be sure you are continuing to read aloud, yes, out loud. If you are benefiting from this Ministry increasing in understanding, and building your faith and love please give prayerful consideration to becoming a financial and prayer partner. Also, don’t forget my recently updated book, Prophetic Voice in the Land, if you don’t have it already. It is available in softcover, e-book, and audible.

This may serve as a good study guide for those learning about Prophets and Prophecy and a good reminder for those versed in the topic.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our 1st John text continuing to read aloud, yes, out loud.
1 John 2:9-12 (KJV)
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
So, what is the Apostle John talking about when he says that those who love their brother lives or abideth in the light? Perhaps we could get clarity by asking who and what is the light. The word “light” is transliterated from the Greek to English as phōs meaning to shine or make manifest according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This is true in the physical as well as the spiritual, understanding that spiritual light is far more important. Jesus is light, God is light, we are light.
John 8:12 (KJV)
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
1 John 1:5 (KJV)
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
Matthew 5:13-14 (KJV)
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Have we, the Church, individual Christians, lost our savor, and are being trodden under the feet of the world? Jesus is the Word and the Word is light.
John 1:1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Bottom line we are to live the Word of God, which is light. Did you see the powerful promise at the end of verse ten of our primary text? Let’s review in the KJV and YLT.
1 John 2:10 (KJV)
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. (Bold added)
1 John 2:10 (YLT)
10 he who is loving his brother, in the light he doth remain, and a stumbling-block in him there is not; (Bold added)
Stumbling only occurs when we allow darkness into our lives.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember the Lord is good, nothing but good, not the author of poverty, sickness, and tragedy, and He cannot lie.
By: Dr. David R. Wood, Bible Teacher, and Prophetic Voice
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
