1 John 2:10-14 (KJV)
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
This week I am moving forward into verse eleven today. We saw in verse ten that walking in love (agapē/agapaō) gave no occasion for stumbling. So, the take away is that we must step outside of love to stumble. Hating our brother is an example of stumbling. This is a very dangerous place. Remember, love is the power of faith and it is impossible to please God without faith. Let me ask a question. Who chooses whether you or I walk in darkness? Is it God? Is it the devils? Is it other people? Is it us? Why?
1 John 2:16 (KJV)
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
James 1:13-15 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
We choose to step out of the light into the darkness, we can no longer see clearly and stumble.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember God is good and has nothing but a good plan for you and He cannot lie.
